Left 4 Dead 1 won't save my custom settings?

L4D1 won't save my custom settings? I try the steam cloud but its unselectable. Every time I close and start the game it always go back to its default settings which I don't like... So can you help me how fix this problem?

But the game works fine for me.

    I'm playing l4d (non-steam).

Right click on Left4dead on steam then go to local files and go to Verify cache intergity then after it updates it will restart and should work

Right click mo Left4dead on steam tapos go to local files tapos go to Verify cache integrity then pagtapos ng mag update ma rere start itself then it should work.

So you mean it will work if I download steam? I'm afraid because l4d might block due to using pirate.
