I still play Doom 2 once in a while. I can play it pretty easily on the 3rd hardest difficulty. Can't remember the title of it right now, oh well. I haven't played Wolfenstein 3D in quite a while now.

I still play Red Alert sometimes, I don't know if you count CS and Starcraft as old games. ?

Those are pretty old these days. They're 10+ years old.

I have a lot of Dosbox games, such as Doom and the original Elder Scrolls. I play a lot of old PC games, Age of Empires is still a classic. Many old games have much better gameplay than newer ones- because today everyone is too mesmerized by stunning graphics to care about the gameplay quality.

hmm, when the old games were released, they had stunning graphics for the time!

you mentioned Age of Empires - i still remember a friend watching me play it (nearly 15 years ago) and he was gobsmacked by the quality of the graphics (especially the dead elephants for some reason) and all the animation.

Doom too was revolutionary at the time for its use of (pseudo) 3D.

Doom 2 was pretty revolutionary, actually. Along with Wolf 3D before that, and Duke Nukem 3D in it's time.

StarCraft even managed to get GOTY for the best balanced game of it's era.

HomeWorld 1 & 2 weren't quite as popular, but those were super kick ass, too. HomeWorld 2 even had a really kickass StarWars mod. Even though I suck with RTS games, I'll still play them.

Diablo 1 & 2 were pretty revolutionary, along with Dungeon Siege & LoA (I didn't really like DS2 and DS3 was an utter failure, imo).

the mod/add-on Legends Of Utrae really does the Dungeon Siege/LoA game full credit..
it opens the whole Utraean Peninsula - and makes a great (very long!) adventure game

    - it contains a heck of lot of improvements, and was made by some very clever and dedicated modders..

    - I thoroughly recommend it..!!

I think I tried it only once, and probably didn't like it. Not really sure why. I don't play Dungeon Siege all that much anymore.
