Holy Jebus... it would take me weeks to get accostumed to all those buttons

I should probably take a moment here to note the massive difference between a standard mmo and a fast paced fps game like bf3.

There is a significant difference between needing buttons for 400 different abilities and macros.
And needing to be able to accurately target a long ran fast mover while correcting for bulletdrop over the distance and trying to dance around the two guys shooting at you from the next hill over.

...it's very different and so are the things I would look for in a mouse made for such.

I'm a fast paced fps gamer. I keep trying mmo's but I'll max a character in pretty much no time and just quit afterwards. I honestly don't understand how you guys spend weeks/months grinding out stuff to make a item +2 more powerful. It seems like the ultimate waste of time to me.

Especially when you can be almost guaranteed that an expansion will be released making all that work pretty much meaningless even in game.

ps. whoever came up with the concept of DLC needs to be dragged into the street and publicly humiliated for his stupidity.
Bwaahahahahaha... you got a way with words

Dude, WTH is that???? I wouldn't know what to do with it...

Wireless is cool for Office Tasks... I love mine. Who knows, I may get something for my G9 and I will buy another mouse for Gaming, I just don't know what and all those new Cyborg types scare the crap out of me worse than the G9 does.

Same can also be said for wireless keyboards. I have played with enough people over the years where their character onscreen freezes, and it turns out that it was their keyboard that the battery either chose that particular time to die or the keyboard missed the key press. Most of the time it was the keyboard just not registering the key (not good when you're trying to jump behind cover, and it doesn't register the spacebar/jump key), and was usually followed by a string of expletives as we were on Teamspeak or something and knew what had happened.

yeah that's is why my keyboard and mouse are both wired. I can't stand wireless. Battery dies or it doesn't respond quick enough. I'm a hard wired keyboard/mouse user

The title makes it clear enough I suppose.
More interesting is the actual and final reason I have come to this conclusion.

It could have been battery life, or cost of replacements.
    but it's not.

It could have been that no matter what it would always annoyingly lose connection quality and start behaving like a drunk 9 year old.
    but it's not.

No, for all the frustrations I have suffered at the hands of my wireless mouse it was finally the weight. They're about 4 times heavier than the standard wired mouse I used in the past and am now using once again. In normal use the extra weight feels good and it's not something I was really paying attention too until playing battlefield 3 where I find myself shooting at range a lot more and having to make a lot of tiny corrections on moving targets. In that I have found the wireless mouse to simply not allow as much agility as it's wired counterpart. I will still use the wireless on my alternate computer just because I don't feel like making yet another purchase at this point, all in all though. I'm definitely doing much much better with a simple relatively cheap intellimouse model I think they actually stopped making about 3 years ago. It's simple, works with everything and equally important to me allows me to play with my left handed mouse configuration without complaint (or forcing me to curve my hand in un-natural positions). I've seen a lot of arguments about the new super high dpi mouse and all the love and money it rakes in. At the end of the day though I found the devices to hurt my gaming pulling me from a solidly positive k/d player to a solidly negative one.

I suppose I'm just saying if your wireless 10billion dpi 400 button mouse works for you that's great, I just think you wasted a bunch of money and thanks to the nature of those time vampires a lot of time trying to configure it just right for 10 different games.

..no seriously best of luck to you man, you're going to need it.
+2 Yup, I completely agree. Even if you have some crazy $200 mouse that has a built in LiIon battery, it still doesn't compare, connectivity wise to a wired mouse. I bought my first wired mouse, ever, about 4 months ago and noticed the biggest marked increase in accuracy over any other change I have made over the years.

you know i thought my wireless would cut it too, until battlefield 3.
Too much weight ...small corrections are made much more difficult by this.
And the time it takes to hit the dpi button is about the amount of time it takes to die.

Whatever works for you at the end of the day i suppose.
    amen!! Preach it brutha!

I have for 10 euro, wireless mouse and keyboard.

But every year i have a new mouse and keyboard.
This is actually quite wise in my experience.
In the early part of the last decade I was all into lighted keyboards.
Of course back then they were still figuring out how to make them right and cheaply they averaged about 120 bucks at the time.

I went through 6 in almost as many months returns were basically nonexistent for any of them...

I have used nothing but plain black bargain keyboards with my primary system since.

The wireless keyboard I am using right now is more a function of convenience than because I actually prefer it in any way. ...and the second it gives me trouble I already have a brand new replacement wired kb in the box in the closet waiting.

Yeah, I only have one issue with that mouse, outside of it just looking ridiculous.
..and that is the fact I play with my mouse in my left hand.
Even though I keep the standard button config on the mouse...

something like that is less than useless to me. In fact it wouldn't even make a pretty paper weight.

That would explain the guy infront of me on the road today, who's tires were so large from the rims he put on his car he could not, in fact make a simple turn properly.

p.s. the rims looked awful too.
Don't understand why people take it to the extreme like that, nice rims exist in larger sizes but they always have to take it to the point of destroying the flow and lines of the car and making the whole thing look and drive like rudderless boat in a storm.

I will never buy a ridiculous left-handed oversized wireless gaming rim for my rudderless truck again, I don't care how many lights are on the keyboard.

(I seem to have lost the flow of this thread...)
