I would install it, but my game box seems to have dissapeared as I have not played that in over a year.

I played jedi knight 2 jedi outcast fine the other day, but had to window it due to flickering issues in full screen

Kotor 1 works for me with patch 1.03 and drivers 186.18.
    Thanks, that helped.

The game starts, but crashes in seemingly random places. Quick save every minute helps counter the issue :)

If it's similar to the issues I'm having with KOTOR2, it will crash randomly when loading new areas, mostly only if I've been playing for over two hours at a time.

KOTOR has installed and ran fine (beat the game) in Vista.
In Seven, it installed fine, though I have not really played past the first part of the battle on the ship.

Come to think of it, I think it was freezing on me. Hmmm.... I am not at home (on vacation) but I can mess with this in a few days.

Try installing and running IN VISTA COMPATIBILITY MODE AS AN ADMIN.

Running Windows 7 RC, i cannot get KOTOR to run at all, with it crashing after the BIOWARE screen in the intro, compatability mode has no effect, and my drivers are up to date

your problem is probably because your drivers are up to date. Use an old driver version, try like 6 months old, then a year and so on until you find one that works.

Though most of people here seem to have problems with nvidia drivers, I experience the same problem with an ati card (hd4850): KOTOR 1 crashes right after the Lucas Art logo. Drivers are recent (catalyst 9.8) and I tried all compatibility modes as administrator. I also tried the nocd patch. The game is up-to-date (kotor 1.03) and was runing fine with vista sp2. Does anyone know which ati drivers may work ?

KOTOR runs better on Linux using WINE than it does on 7.

KOtor runs excellent on Windows 7. As I have said many times, please use OLD drivers, not new ones, when trying to play KOTOR

    Try Catalyst 8.5

All games like to say "please download the latest drivers" but think about it, when was KOTOR last patched? 2004? So why would you ever *need* 2009 drivers to play?

windows 7 + catalyst 8.5 does not work.
    ubuntu 9.04 + wine 1.1.27 + catalyst 9.8 does not work.

@Meyithi: what's your configuration ? do you have an ati card ?
@cokewithvanilla: did you test catalyst 8.5 ? Moreover, kotor is not the only game I'm playing to, that's why I would expect it to work with latest drivers so that I don't have to install a new catalyst configuration each time I change of game. Anyway, the problem remains: maybe with older drivers ?
