Can't get my sims 2 to work on my computer :(

I've tried running them as administrator, I've changed all three of their compatibility modes to windows xp service pack 3 because someone on a forum suggested that. I really want to play this game because my little cousin is coming over soon and we were looking forward to playing them! Any help? I didn't pirate them or anything, they're from a couple years ago and they did work on my old laptop and I think that was vista

As far as I remember you need to install the "SecuRom" drivers manually (and/or with administrator rights).
It is the security "feature" of the Sims 2 game(s).
Than it should run again smoothly.
