How to stop Sims 3 from running in background?

So coming here was sort of a last resort, I've been scouring the internet for information but I've failed to no avail. This may seem like sort of a novice question, but hear me out.

My problem is that the Sims 3 Launcher and game is running in the background is what I've gathering from bits and pieces of information I've picked up the past two hours. I've checked the task manager and in the Processes tab it shows it running, or processing, I just cannot see it or access it no matter what I try. I'm getting no error code, nothing out of the ordinary. I've already tried bypassing the launcher and the game seems to be running in the background too.

Now if someone could lend me a hand in figuring out how to stop the launcher and game from running in the "background" or if this is a different problem I would seriously and highly appreciate it.

I'd also like to add I wasn't sure if this would be cateforized as a gaming question, since it seemed like my main question was how actually stop a program from running in the background if possible, it just happened to a game, sorry for any inconveniance.

Go to msconfig/start up and see if this program is checked. If so uncheck it and reboot. Now go into the programs settings and see if their is some sort of thing about starting at boot. Sometimes their is something that checks for updates at boot. I wouldn't want that because I check for updates when I want to. If all this works you will be able to use the program when you want to but it won't be running in the background when not in use.
