Have you tried running it as an administrator?

Knowing your system specs may also help - just b/c your system can run W7 doesn't mean it can run W7 *and* game....

I have been able to play Trackmania Nations Forever on my win 7 pc until some months ago. Suddenly Trackmania acted the way you describe and also Battlefield 2 did not work no more either. I have no clue what I may have done to cause it and I still dont know what to do.

Have you gone to www.microsoft.com and downloaded the DirectX 9c web installer?

I don't have any problems with any games within Steam (TrackMania included) and I don't have to run in compatibility mode nor do I have to run as Administrator. Remember, although Windows 7 ushers in DirectX 11, those games rely on DirectX 9 and if you don't have DX9 installed, they may not run at all or if they do run, not run correctly.

There should not be necessary to install dx9. dx11 should be just fine.

I've been able to play since I uninstalled my antivirus software F-secure, now I'm using avast free antivirus instead and I can play. :)

Elias V: If you had not bought a new copy of trackmania original it wont work on either Win Vista or Win 7.

Yes, you do need to install the DX9c. Those games require that version to play correctly.

Speaking of Steam, I bought NBA2K10 this past January. Game started but crashed mid-way thru game. Every time after, it would crash. Submitted crash report to Steam Support. Their reply: Install DX9.

Yes, Win7 ushers in DX11, but that doesn't mean that it has the necessary DX9 files available for those games that require DX9.

I'm sorry, I don't konw how long ago this was made and I don't wanna be reviving really old threads.

But I'm trying to run the game and it's not working... I tried installing the new DX Drivers and I also tried running in compatible mode, but nothing worked.

    Any advice?

It keeps saying it can't find my graphics drivers and error code 54.
