Windows 7: Cursor Display problem in-game

Cursor Display problem in-game

I am running 7100 and have installed most of the games I own to test them out. I recently upgraded and am running Sli.

When I launch most of the games the mouse cursor disappears in the menus. I can tell the mouse is working because I can hear it and see it registering on menu buttons. This happens in multiple different setups and I can't seem to find the issue. Sometimes running in windowed mode fixes the mouse problem, but is very undesirable on my large monitor.

My Rig:
Asus P5ND2-Sli Mobo w/nForce4 chipset
Pentium D 840 3.2ghz OCed to 3.84 or higher
2 x GeForce 9800 Gt
basic wired logitech optical mouse
Monitors: 27.5" 1900x1200 & 22" 1680*1050

Attempted fixes and settings:
Disabled Visual Themes
Disabled Desktop Composition
Disabled Scaling on high DPI settings
Have newest geforce drivers and SLi is enabled

[with all of these settings I get a cursor when the mouse is being moved and it disappears when not moving]

Games I have a problem with:

Steam Games (Half Life 2, CS Source, etc)

Anyone have any suggestions?

Ok...I have found some semblance of a solution.

Disable Visual Themes and Desktop Composition in compatibility mode
Run WinXP compatibility mode
Disable all mouse additional functions (hadows, trails, non-default pointer shapes, precision enhancement, Snap-To, Hide-pointer-while-typing)

I'm going to troubleshoot it and see what I can turn back on and still function.
