CSS Not starting.

    CSS Not starting.


    I'm having a issue with CSS not starting.
    It will start loading, and flash the background for the main menu, then go black again and with a loading cursor (the circle) it will say hl2.exe has stopped working.

    I have tried everything I can think of.
    Reinstalled my display drivers.
    Reinstalled my mobo drivers.
    Reinstalled Steam 2 times
    Reinstalled CSS atleast 5 times
    Changed compatability mode (tried XP SP1, SP2, and SP3, Vista SP1, SP2, and even tried Windows 2000)
    Ran as Administrator for each of the compatibility modes and also ran not as admin for each...

    I don't know where there is left to go for an answer.
    Actually thinking about going back to Vista if this doesn't get working... :/

    Can you please get some error info for us?
    Without it there can be about thousand things that could be wrong(it's CSS after all, wins all "the most buggy and old software award"

    Hi AnarchyCow, welcome to the forums.

    You could try re-installing DirectX, you can get it from the MS website. This may fix and eliminate any DX issues that may cause your game(s) to fail.
