Secondary display goes black when playing a game.

    Hello.

I have a laptop. I got a monitor that I use as secondary display.
I use that monitor for tv shows while playing on primary, or that was the plan.

When I start gta san andreas, the second screen goes black. But it's only the video. If I take VLC out of full screen, I can see the desktop.

So basically, video doesnt work on secondary display while playing game on primary one.

    Any ideas?

    My laptop has 2 GPU's.

Can I make VLC run on one and the games run on the other?

Have you tried playing games in full screen (windowed) mode? This should prevent the second monitor from blanking out.

Secondary display not capable of resolution for game?

Secondary display not on native resolution and conflict appears?

Perhaps a little more info would yield better responses and even an answer?

    Thanks for replies!

My primary(laptop) has 1920x1080 - Its on that setting
Secondary has 1024x768 - Its on that setting

I have tried running the game in window mode, didnt change anything.

So if I start the game on primary, then the secondary display automatically changes to that resolution as well? o.O

If windowed mode is working, try changing it to fullscreen windowed, then maximize the window.

If the resolution of the game is higher than what the TV is capable off, chances are that it will blink out on its own and exit... perhaps why it switches back to the laptop?

I am going to suggest playing the game no higher the 1024 x 768 all default to see if your TV can process it
