AH HA! compatability mode was messing with it. thank you soo much for your help darkassain, you have no idea how happy i am =D i am stoked now that i am able to play games with my buddies!
on a side note, thank you to all others who posted too, aiding me in my efforts to get my games up and running =D

My problem is that I don't have sound in movies (Mirror's Edge, Legendary etc). I found that problem is probably Bink Video used now by many developers. Any ideas?

What did you do exactly as far as install method for each patch and final compatability settings? And do you have Norther Strike? I cannot get BF2142 to start no mater what I do. I can get the no CD thing if I run in XP compatability mode.
I neeeeeed this game to work or I am ditching Windows 7.
