My game will not work correctly. After i click start up for halo 2 this message pops up.
This computer's performance information has not been created.

You should create performance information on this computer before running Halo 2 for Windows Vista.

Click Start, Control Panel, System and Maintenance, and Performance Information and Tools.

I can click RUN and it will take me to the play screen then once i click that it will close out the program with no error just simply close it out. Please help!

Sorry but 1) I no longer run Windows 7, thus 2), no longer have the game installed because 3) I'm now running Windows 8.1 and have not tried installing it since an OS reinstall.

That said, as I said before, the game has to be a legit copy for you to have any chance of the game properly working with the procedures written on page 1 here. If the game is legit, and you are still having issues, try re-reading the instructions here again.

Oh and I've not seen this message before so that's a bit odd

They did "dump" GFWL... it is now Games For Windows Market Place

Anyway, whether they dump the client app or not, people still want to play a game they paid for, thus your post is a bit unhelpful.

Didn't microsoft stopped the support for their Games For Windows Market Place?

I remember when Microsoft announced that they will be stopping support for Games For Windows so I had to spend my 1800 points for GTA IV's DLC (TBoGT) and the remaining points was used to buy more boring stuffs on their store.

But anyways Halo 2 should've been using SteamWorks, less trouble :)

Yeah from what I understand they were supposed to discontinue it, but I was under the impression you could still play games bought under it. The problem with Halo however is not only was it tied to Vista, but also GFWL.

And yeah, I do agree that Halo would have been best served on Steam, but Microsoft, and now E.A. wanted to keep their games to themselves. Unfortunately MS screwed the pooch here

    Might be too late

Hello, so I've read through this forum and followed all the steps. I know that you no longer have Windows 7, but could you possibly still help me? I've done everything, except when I start the game up, an error message pops up that says that:

"The program can't start because xlive.dll is missing from your computer. Try reinstalling the program to fix this problem."

I have reinstalled the file that you gave me and uninstalled the correct product. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling Halo 2 a couple times and uninstalling and reinstalling the Games for Windows Marketplace file, but I am still getting this error. Any ideas? Is there maybe just something I have to rename?

    Hi,

Sorry but not only do I not use Windows 7 anymore, but I've not even attempted to install Halo on Windows 10. That said, I think your best bet is to search on-line on how to get the game running under 7. In short, I can't help you with the game because I haven't touched it since my posts here.

    Sorry.

Not funny.... The first two Halo games (Halo - Combat Evolved, Halo - 2) ran on PC. I know because I have both (still do) and played them under Windows 7. After that, they moved to games to X-Bones.

    Thank you.
