Every single time I run the installer for Gears of war PC a few seconds in the install I get this message:

Error applying transforms. Verify that the specified transform paths are valid. E:\hex(2):40,00,31,00,30,00,33,00,33,00,…

    Here are my specs:
    Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-2670QM CPU @ 2.20GHz
2.2 GHz Performance Rated at: 6.05 GHz
    8.1 GB RAM
Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium Edition Service Pack 1 (build 7601), 64-bit
    GeForce GTX 560M

Am I getting this error because I am running it on Windows 7 and can it be fixed, help would be greatly appreciated!

Gears of war is a windows xp only game. It's xp only, you would have to install xp or make a xp partition along with win 7 and install it in xp and run it in xp.

there is a patch on there site you run before installing to a win 7 machine which will resolve this problem.

    i'll try to find it

    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/967644

hmm that's a different issue but if you do get it resolved you'll need that one too xd.

it seems the transform error is due to pre installed office..which is just one thing i guess no idea if it's relevent some seem to have fixed it by changing the date to what i can't find though.

    Thanks for the reply guys!

But as for the patch recommended by gazz9496 I have already downloaded this with no success because I still get the same error message right at the beginning of my installation. (And I've done it as I was instructed to do so "Run patch before playing the game for the first time."

I've tried quite a few things including downloading the virtual windows xp with no success and I actually got a step further when I tried to install it on my school computer. I didn't get the error warning shown above and the installation was successful but I had to download the no DVD patch by and used the steps on this site : Gears of War

I actually ended up even booting up the gears of war level editor as I planned on doing from the beginning, it was actually working pretty smoothly but to my demise, for some reason I am completely unable to manage files; meaning I can not save/open files! Grrr!

What happens is I will click their icons at the top left corner like you would do for pretty much ANY software but they just buffer for a bit and end up not doing anything! And when I close the editor I get this message/error: http://oi47.tinypic.com/110itcn.jpg and I will press "Yes to all" but it just asks over and over again until I press "No" and lose my saved packages!

If someone could help me with at least one of my two problems (they're on seperate computers) that would be awesome! I've been looking for help on this everywhere!
