But old processors like Core 2 Duo are difficult to find anymore.

And the Core 2 Duo may not work with your motherboard, which you have yet to identify.

You can't go far with a budget of $160 US.

An i3 would be a good choice and a major upgrade for you.

You will need a new processor, new motherboard (socket 1155), and new RAM (DDR 3).
