I was trying to be funny for sure... although, up to a certain point.

From experience, when I talk to any of these Geniuses, they are all pretty much full of themselves and love to talk with Big Words, this makes them all have what I call "Tarzan Complex" and then I come to find out that, the little I know about computers is, sometimes, enough to run circles around them, sans the big words of course! :)

Don't want to stereotype of course... usually the ones wanting to help w/o them big words are the one with the most knowledge

I agree with you. I know more about PC's than the average user, but I'm no PC genius like my friend has a natural talent for PC's. It really just depends on the workers at the store.

There was a "PC Club" in my area some years ago, they were cheap compared to CompUSA at the time, and then not even a year or two later they jumped from $35 for a "diagnostics" check to see whats wrong with your PC to $85. I think the store either went out of business or they just weren't making enough money and moved the store. Before that I think it was a bank at one point (there was a vault door). Last I saw, it turned into a mattress store. It's a really small building. Their workers were actually pretty good, but expensive as hell after they jumped their prices up.

The CompUSA store here also went out of business roughly the same time (or a year later) mainly because CompUSA is such a crappy store (and their prices are just plain ridiculous that they weren't making enough money). I also heard a few years ago that CompUSA was forced to close 30 of their stores in LA due to the same issue.

CompUSA was bought out by Tigerdirect, they have cleaned up their act and have decent prices now and decent customer service. Best buy on the other hand, wants to stick the whole hand in you for a simple usb cable or they give you 36 months to pay 0% but they over charge you on the TV by 300 to 400 bucks, I rather buy it online and save me the 400 bucks. According to friends, they have also changed their ways now that Amazon, Newegg and others are kicking its ass.

Yeah, I remember the one here didn't have that many "deals" or sales, and the "sales" were basically brought down to the same price as another store sold the same items without the sale. That's pretty much why the one here went out. We have a Bestbuy in it's place now, and I think they make more money than Compusa did.

Has anyone else heard of "PC Club"?
