I plan on building a gaming computer.

What are some good parts and the prices on each. I just really want a decent one, not a amazing one.

Budget ? and what Brand are you looking for

    Most will recomend Intel

Some run AMD like me if you are on a real tight budget but what quality and decent parts to match go AMD

If you want the King of the Hill I guess you can go with Intel where there are Faster in area's AMD chips can't compete in same with Intel to AMD on Multithreaded apps

Psu you want a quality one nothing cheap where it will hurt you if something goes wrong

also if you plan to OC good aftermarket cooler

Gpu a mid range card is good enough to play games on high some card ultra high

HD doesn't matter any basic 7200 rpm will do you dont need a SSD
but if you want to get one use it for the OS and some games other then that just for a fast boot pretty much

    any decent DVDburner

Decent Ram want to go with the Recomended for the board you choose

also decent case can be had if you shop around

+ 1 on what Solar said... the more info you give us, the better we can advise you.

I would also ask, aside from your Budget...

Do you also need Monitor, Keyboard and Mouse?

What about Windows... do you already own an OS?

    Is that budget... including Taxes?

Lastly... what kind of Gaming are you going to be doing?

Like many others here we can help you on your decisions if we have more information. With our help and you doing your homework and shopping you should be able to come up with a system to your liking.

You're asking a question that's about as broad as can be. Building a computer yourself is actually very easy and a great way to save money, but you have to be willing to do some of the research yourself into what games you plan to play, what they recommend, what's on the market today, etc.
