You can install games in compatibility mode just dont use the autorun, goto the setup.exe on the disc and right click it then goto properties and set up the compatibility mode you want.

As for what games run I have been playing bf2 since RC but have gotten the pb error once that was updated no issues at all.

Compability mode isn't an option because it changes nothing, neither does disabeling the firewall.. because all the info i get isn't sufficient, is it the avg firewall i have to disable, or make an exception? and which file do i need to put as exception? and which file do i have to select to run in compability..

I'm having this exact same problem trying to install BF2 off of the 3 CDs. Running 64bit Win7. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Using AVG free as well and windows firewall. I've already tried installing with compatibility but same thing. Error occurs when clicking OK to install 2nd disc.

    Help!

Unfortunately I can't be much help in the fixing, but for those interested, I'm another user who can confirm that the DVD retail version installs without a problem (for me anyway). 7/64. Didn't have to use compatibility mode or even run as administrator. Installed just like anything else.

installing was not a problem as I just set comp mode and run as admiin then installed, worked fine.

Problem I have is BF2 lags like hell in W7 64bit, plays perfect on XP64 but real bad in W7, pity MS have left so many games incompat with their OS

For you guys that are still having issues getting Battlefield 2 to install. Can you provide some specification about the Build number for your Windows 7 software and provide some specifications about your hardware.

Before installing various Windows 7 updates I was having all kinds of issues with a number of games including Battlefield 2. However since the installation of the various updates including driver updates, nearly all my games are now running very well under Windows 7 64bit.

    • Press the button combination "Win+R". This will being up the Run window.

    • In the space provided, type "winver" and press OK.

    • A window will display showing the version and build number of your installed Windows app.
