I have a question about a gaming website.

The website is called: GameTop and I wanted to know if I can trust downloading games (would not download but just wanted to know) or playing online games with this website? (The website says that they don't have any viruses, malware, or spyware with the downloaded games, but I DO NOT trust them.) I made the big mistake of downloading Tango software and it messed up the help section of my computer I'm just thankful that it's the only thing that was not working and that it did not ruin my sweet laptop.

Went to the site in your post:

Free Games Download - Full Free PC Game

Checked it with WOT, you can look at the results here:

gametop.com | WOT Reputation Scorecard | WOT (Web of Trust)

If you download anything, I would save it to your desktop if you can and scan it with everything you can. If for some reason you can't do this and scan it, I would not trust it. Just my opinion.

    I use Avast 1st, SAS 2nd and MBAM 3rd.
Its just the way I feel somewhat safe and I do this for everything I download no matter where it comes from or how trusted the site is.

Why ? Because you never know whats gets in it from the site to your 'puter.

They give it a high rating but, a lot of comments include:

    • Annoying ads or popups
    • Malicious content, viruses

    Hi COMPUTIAC,
Thanks all of your help after reading comments from the Web Of Trust Website. I have deleted the gametop.com website, and I will NOT go near it ever again. My mom had a Trojan Horse on her desktop computer after I made the dumb choice to visit a glitter website just to make my name sparkle, and than I had to call my computer tech person to come, and reset her whole O.S. again which was so hard to watch. Now I have
Web of Trust on my laptop, and will filter any strange websites on it from now on.

A half-decent antivirus would have binned that in seconds as those things are common, garden-variety malware. If the antivirus sucks, you are at risk even if you use WOT. Actually, a good antivirus can keep you much safer than WOT. (both together are of course better)
Care to say what antivirus you are using atm?

I have visited that website in past and downloaded games from there , to my opinion my antivirus didn't show any warning while running the .exe of the game . The website actually had very good collection of free games to download especially the arcade and puzzle section .

    Hi bobafetthotmail,

I'm currently running Microsoft Security Essentials on my Laptop, and it is working well. Have ONLY gone to the websites that I know won't mess up my laptop and have been careful to search the W.O.T. website before downloading or visiting a strange website for my laptop's safety which is helping me to be more aware of what is on the Internet.

For what it is worth, IMO gametop.com is absolutely safe.

I know a few people who like these simple puzzles and "Match 3" games, my wife and neighbors teenagers being some of them, and I have never heard nor seen of problems regarding the site or the games.

Only annoyance seems to be that when you exit a game, it opens browser and gametop.com page asking to download more games. No viruses, no hidden installation of third party toolbars etc.
