I am partial to the SP Campaign as I don't play MP so, I hope some of you guys will be able to shed some light on the subject once you have a bit more time with it.

@ sneaker, all I could suggest is that, aside from turning back your OC in your Bios, make sure you clear Cmos, unplug battery for good measure and restart your PC making sure your BIOS is at default everywhere.

Another thing is updating to the latest drivers for audio and video. If you have recently done this, go ahead and uninstall them, restart and install a fresh driver. This is not a perfect science but I have noticed that when I install a new game, sometimes, my drivers get corrupted (or something does) and this clears the problem up... most of the time that is.

@marek100, I tried ARMAII and I got to be honest, as much as I despise arcade-ish run & gun games, I was not able to get into playing the game. I guess that, aside from being old school, I am getting old and having to deal with a Gazellion mouse & kb buttons is just not for me. There are times that I just want to set the minimal amount of key and go play. I hate taking 2 hours to set/bind all those keys :)

I've had the game for two days now, and it's running fine via 64-bit W7
everything's up on max settings - smooth gameplay and good in-game gfx..

I'm only doing the single-player game at the moment - still getting used to the controls..

It plays a bit like Crysis Warhead, but the gadgets and gizmo's are different..
..and the plot is a bit more (..er) realistic..!!

-reckon I could really get to like this one, it certainly feels real and dangerous enough for a war-type shooter
    - the sfx are brilliant, and you have complete freedom to explore the whole map area..

    - I hear that an early patch is expected - to clear one or two minor glitches
    - though I haven't found anything wrong with it yet..

I wish you guys would talk about the nitty gritty. You know, key binding mouse & keyboard, ease of play, AI (enemy & teammates).

The little I played over my friends house I didn't like. I had the same questions he did at the end (and already asked in one of my previous posts).

    1. I couldn't understand why the Aim & Zoom buttons. What is the difference.
    2. 3 teammates that move together? no way to make them move on their own
    3. Couldn't find a Recon Only ROE so every time we got close to the enemy, (read: 100 to 200 meters away) my teammates would start blasting away.
    4. Playing at max and 1680x1050 the grass looked to be a bit unreal, ai movement a little jagged but still, this last one is really no big deal
    5. Putting the AI to drive the APC so I could man the mounted gun was a hassle an a half since he didn't stick to the road, he tried, as hard as anybody can, to stick to the most bizarre path ever considered by a human being :)

I know I am forgetting other things and I also know that I am not giving the game enough time and I really want to but, dang it... it needs so much.

    1. yeah i too dont understand the aim & zoom thing.
    2. actually, you can make them move individually. i accidentally did it once, but idrk how. you have to do it somehow in the map page. i think you click their icon on the top left.
    3. you can set the ROE to fire on my command or return fire. i think there's another one other than the fire at will where they actually just dont fire. but i mostly use fire on my command.
    4. there was a bleep bloop review (from college humor) about the game and they said something about the grass. theyre pretty 2D-ish if you look at them at some angles.
    5. ive never tried that yet lol

and now my comments about the game.

i play on low settings cuz i have a pretty sucky computer, but it runs fine (vista x86). i kinda like it but i find the second mission where you assault skira at night pretty hard.. i already blew up that truck thing forgot what it's called. then move to the next checkpoint but even tho i tell my team to stay down so we wouldn't be seen, we still get seen and get shot at. at one point my whole team except for the sniper died. so i ordered him to follow me and fire at will then i went cod4 on their a**es.. lol.. then my sniper died, so i had to go alone (i was rushing cuz i failed it like 15 times. and the cobras were coming) and i again rushed and i was doing great until i got sniped at the hill. any tips? lol

OFP2 - Great game, Running great on Windows 7 64bit

First, Operation Flashpoint: Dragon Rising is running very well on my Windows 7 64bit machine. No compatibility mode nonsense.

For those of you who are war gamers, you may or may not like this game. Nearly all war games have a lot of arcade elements built-in like damage meters, instant switching between weapons, limited playable areas on the maps, unrealistic weapon capabilities, etc...

If this is what you are use to, and you like those things, then you probably will not like OFP: Dragon Rising (AkA, OFP2). This game is a SIMULATION. That means that the style of play you would being to an arcade shooter, will not work with this game.

OFP2 forces you to play like a real grunt, using real tactics. If any of you are airsoft players, you know what I mean. Let me put it this way... It’s like Flight Sim X for shooters. It's a Simulation. It ain’t for everyone. You have to enjoy sims over arcade games to appreciate it.

The game looks fantastic, sounds fantastic, and plays fantastically (On these three areas alone, it beats ARMAII hands down).
It has a mission editor which means that you and a whole lot of people can and will be creating missions that you can download and play. The maps are huge, which means you can use maneuver and flanking moves.
It has day/night cycle (night looks unbelievable).
There is no rain (that is too bad).
The terrain looks and sounds very real.
The weapons have realistic performance and loading times.
Projectiles actually drop over distance due to gravity (you hunters will know what that is about).
No dedicated servers for online play. They need to fix this shortcoming.

I hope this helps. I recommend this game. However, when “Call of Duty: Modern Warfare” comes out, I will buy it. Because, sometimes a good arcade game is required from time to time.

My rich friend who always buys games sight on see didn't like it at all so, the game is now installed on my computer. I have gotten to the same point I did when I played at his house and I have not wanted to continue from there.

It is very weird since I am usually the opposite way, I can't way to finish a game (Sim, Arcade or Crappy) but, that is not true with this one since a bunch of things annoy me a lot:

    No toggle for Aim/Zoom
    Horrible AI when driving APC...

I don't know, I guess I am going to wait and see if they make a patch for the toggle thing, I read somewhere that a lot of people had complained about it.

I got this game when it first came out immediately after coming back from a trip. Because I was waiting for it, I failed to do any research on it whatsoever... big mistake.

SP is neat, but very short. Some of the custom maps are cool, but the SP experience just gets old, fast, for me. Multiplayer relies on a P2P network... which I would have found out prior to buying the game had I spent 5 minutes looking into things... and so play is just trash.
