Your reasoning is correct of course - the Pro is aimed primarily at Business use - So it makes perfect sense to disable the games - it's one less thing for the System Administrator to worry about
I wouldn't have guessed it was just pro, I always thought it was just something the schools did. Glad its cleared up now.

see.

Also I don't think the college or university are allowed to modified the Windows OS at all. it 100% original like you buy at the shops.

Please Help -- I don't know how to enable the games

Will someone please explain what I need to do to enable the games in Windows 7 (in really simple terms)?

Thanks!

As your system specs do not state which version of Windows 7 you are running I can only assume that you are running the professional version,

as this is primarily designed for use in a business environment Microsoft decided to disable the games in the default install.

The games are there so it is not a major issue

  1. Open Control Panel
  2. In Category view, select “Uninstall a program” ( OR..If you are in the icon view, select “Programs and Features”. They are the same thing.)
  3. The list of all the programs you can uninstall/remove will appear in the main column. On the narrow column on the left-hand side of the main column you will see a couple of options. Select “Turn Windows features on or off” (there is a little administrative access shield next to it)
  4. A New window will pop up on your screen that contains a list of expandable folders that contains tons of Windows programs .. er .. “features” that you can choose to have active or disabled on your PC. Check the box next to “Games” (or if you are really selective, you can expand that folder and select only the games of your choice.)
  5. Click okay and close the uninstall/remove page and close the control panel.

Now Games should appear in the start menu under “All Programs”. BUT.. if you want the games folder to show differently, say in the right column bar:
  1. Right-click the task bar
  2. Select “properties
  3. A new window will appear. Select “Start Menu” tab and click “Customize
  4. A new window will appear. Scroll down until you find the section on games and select the option of your choice (“Display as a link” – shows a link in the right-hand column of the start menu that will open up a new window that contains the games, “Display as a menu” – shows a link in the right-hand column of the start menu that will lead to a new menu coming out of the start menu that shows a list of the games or “Don’t display this item” – the folder will only show in the “All Programs” section)

Let me know if you have any questions.

I've tried this and get to this point:
  1. A New window will pop up on your screen that contains a list of expandable folders that contains tons of Windows programs .. er .. “features” that you can choose to have active or disabled on your PC. Check the box next to “Games” (or if you are really selective, you can expand that folder and select only the games of your choice.)
And nothing is in the pop up box - complete blank - so if there isn't anything there to check what do I do? I would not say I'm computer illiterate but this is driving me crazy - can someone help?
I have windows 7 Pro - fresh install

Kate, how long did you let it load - it may take a couple of seconds (or more depending upon the power of your system)

Spider Solitaire goes too fast
