    World of Warcraft graphical problem?

Like every other minute, World of Warcraft freezes for a good 10-20 seconds then my screen goes black and then goes to my desktop then resumes back to WoW.

This makes WoW pretty much unplayable.
    I have the latest drivers.

Try rolling back to the other drivers, i've found they work better.

I have the same problem. WoW will display properly without any artifacts then suddenly flashes back to the desktop then back to WoW again. It will do this indefinetly while in game but not at the login screen. I've tried disabling the visual effects in windows but that doesn't help. I've also tried different drivers to no avail. Any suggestions?

If you have looked in to wow EU or US forums, a lot of people are having same problems with winxp, win vista, with linux. The graphic problems arent tied with windows 7 or our faulty drivers, its in the game itself currently. I decided to try windows 7 beta and my wow accually runs better with this then with winxpsp3, but still on sertain areas i get the huge lag spikes and sometimes screen freezes.

Some of us have been able to make our wow run bit smoother and without lags by messing around with config.wtf file and "tweaking" graphic settings.

you should try out searching the source of problem from World of Warcraft (en) Forums -> or World of Warcraft - English (NA) Forums -> Forum Index

But mainly, at least for me. Wow runs smoother on W7 then with WinXP :)

Hope this was usefull info for you.

Edit:Basically if your wow runs smoothly or not is based on luck at the moment, my own subscription is on hold at the moment, waiting for some fix with the client to start playing again. Some people play without any problems but all so a lot of us are having loads of problems with it.

Thanks for your input drzl. After reading your post I went to the official WoW forums and started looking around. Although I didn't find anything that helpful I did think of something to try.

I used to play WoW on Linux not too long ago and one of the things that solved some problems was switching WoW from DirectX to OpenGL, so I gave that a try and lo and behold It doesn't flicker anymore. Although the game runs so slow its unplayable haha. Ironic. Anyway that opens some doors I guess.

Yeah, thats the problem at the moment, there isnt really anything usefull info how to fix it cause we propably cant fix it. with patch 3.0.0 graphics started to show some problems and little increase with lag, but when 3.0.3 came out to live servers then the real problems started. Not to mention the lag that wintergrasp is still giving to rest of realm :)

After messing around with some of WoW's settings Ive found that enabling "Windowed Mode" fixes the 'desktop flickering'. Although not ideal for me it definitely fixes the problem the OP and myself had. W00t!

Edit: Oh and before I forget, Ive localized this problem to Windows 7. I do not have this problem with Windows XP.
