I can not help you with Pre-Builts sorry. NO, it is because I don't want but more so because I have ZERO experience with them... All I know of them is how much they suck when they get sick

Seriously though, you gotta give us a bit more of an explanation as to what you want to do with that PC, what exactly are you playing, SP or MP, does the 450 budget includes monitor, Mouse/KB and Operating system, etc.

As far as a benchmark game, I would say maybe metro last light, but to run it maxed you'd need to dump more on the graphics alone than most people spend on entire builds. -

sorry AstaLaVista for not giving enough info , I don't play multi player now so I can't see me playing multi player when I get a desktop unless something changes so I'd want it for single player playing games and general computing uses , I have a monitor, Mouse/Keyboard already that will do me for now but of coarse it will need an OS ( windows 7 I have no interest in 8 ). I don't really know what else to say . The sort of gamer I'd like to be able to play would the new GTA when it come out, the new assassins creed black flag and assassins 3, dead space 3 , dragon age type of games , the elder scrolls Skyrim , fallout games , saints rows 3, bioshock infinite, sleeping dogs, resident evil 6 and revelations, LA noire , far cry 3 i know it's abit of a miss mash of a games list but I'm just trying to give you an idea of the sort of things I'd be looking at playing.

    I don't do gaming.

If I did i wouldn't let the Xbox One thru the door at any of my homes. It is a repulsive thing.

You might look at some of the specialist maker sites - I haven't costed them out - but you might find you couldn't do it yourself much cheaper.

    Couple of examples:

There you go, thanks to SIW2 now you can search in the UK for a good PC. Now, out of those 450 you have budgeted, the Win 7 OS will take a chunk out of it so I don't know how well you will fair... perhaps it would be a good idea for you to lay low and save a few more quid until you have enough for something that won't let you down right away or in 2 months?

Remember, you are also looking into a rig that may be able to last you for at least a couple (if not a few) years... unless you know that in a few years you will miraculously receive lots and lots of money!

I am not much into AMD/ATI (first hand personal opinion) so I am going to advise for this one... First Choice but of course, you need to save more or beg a friend to lend you some money.

I've been between my PS3, 360 and more so recently, PC now since the One came about.
Most of my issue is that it's more of an entertainment center than a console.
So, I've recently started slowly upgrading my PC to accommodate Steam.
I'm not so sure where the future of gaming lies but it certainly isn't with the One on my list.
I'll happily stick to my PS3/360/PC in the coming months considering.

A lot of what I see from the next generation of consoles is them trying to setup a medium for impulse buys and micro-transactions to happen faster and more often. Not too mention them being used as marketing tools. This generation of consoles should have been small purpose built pc's, and to some extent they are. It's all the choices that were made after the hardware phase that ruin them for me personally.

It's all about squeezing more out of the users.

The DRM stuff , blocking used games, and related spying would put me off.

I think we have enough spying from big brother already but for me, what boils my blood is the fact that, it is no longer a gaming console as stated before but more of a reality social network show and I will be damn if I am going to shell out 90 bucks for a game (oh its coming) so they can tell me how I can use it or what I can not do after they got my money.

I will play tic tac toe on a piece of paper if I have but I won't give them the satisfaction...

It is up to Sony now. Big opportunity for them .

I think they may have already agreed to blocking used games. It is not too late to change that.
