I'm tempted to buy an xbox one at this point just so I can join game servers and start screaming "XBOX OFF XBOX OFF XBOX OFF" ...and watch people disconnect.

So, basically is their way or the highway?

You know, no one man (or Company) should have the power to dictate those terms, then again, that is easily obtainable as long as you are prepared to pay the right people and have the right connections... then, every illegal move can be made into a legal one!

Still, if people are willing to sacrifice their freedom in order to be able to play a game, then, what else can we expect.

As you guys know I love my xbox 360 but as I said for all the other reasons I listed there is no way I'd buy the xbox one but after reading that article I posted even my jaw hit the floor and to think I thought I'd heard all the power crazed money grabbing bad news there was to hear about the xbox one but this bit of news takes the cake . As I said I've never been banned from xbox live but just imagine you've had a bad day and someone on xbox live gets on your nerves and you swear at them ( I know you shouldn't but we're all human ) next thing you know you're banned and as there is no 'real' appeals process that £420 games console you bought a month ago is now a very expensive door stop WOW you'd go crazy wouldn't you because it's bad enough on the 360 but at least you could still play offline the xbox one will be totally useless , plus as you can see from the watchdog report in my other post mistakes do happen and sometimes people get banned by mistake.

So glad I've decided ( when I've saved abit more coin ) to buy a gaming PC instead , I'm gonna stick with my xbox 360 for the time being because there are lot's of games I'm yet to play ( I usually don't bother buying games on release or pre-order anyway , I usually wait a few months for them to drop a little in price ) so I've got plenty to play while I try and save up abit more £££.
@taylorig that link you posted was funny , it's not that they was using a HP powered, Windows 7 system with Nvidia's 700 series GTX GPU under there but it's the fact that it was running Windows 7 not Windows 8 , ha ha even Microsoft doesn't want to use Windows 8 sooo funny .

Do you think that Sony will back the customer or backpedal and hide under the... "Well, we did not know that was coming?"
you-know my boyfriend said the same thing , it's not just the console makers but the game devs and as much as I love their work some of them ( EA springs to mind ) will do anything to squeeze more money out of you like DLC it never comes downs in price even when it's 6 years old for what you get it's very over priced and I don't buy it some DLC it about £14 for maybe if your lucky two hours play nobody in their right mind could think that's a 'good deal'.
So yes only time will tell how the whole used games issues will play out but like you I don't trust these big company's
Also has anyone noticed how completely deflated Don Mattrick in interviews at the moment at e3 it's like he's not even the same man who unveiled the xbox one a few weeks ago he struggles to smile when taking about the new console and has no energy and just seems so fed-up, I think the backlash on community driven platforms like this is much worse then Microsoft could have imagined what do you guys think ? wouldn't it be great if they did a u-turn on some of their features that folk are so mad about but I don't think they will.

Even if they did, at this point it's too late to undo the damage. The launch will go down this way and it's what everyone will remember either way. I mean they fixed windows vista --eventually but it never overcame the bad impression many people got of it at release. I see the xbox one being the same kind of thing. They can easily fix the problems, they're all software level stuff. I'm not sure doing so would even help them all that greatly at this point. The price difference and performance; they've just been completely outdone by Sony this time.

Microsoft will sell the Xbox One just like Ihop sells pancakes unfortunately but yes, those on the fence will take a step backwards and move to the Sony side... you know you always going to have to fanbois that just can't live w/o their Xbox one and cool features

    the turn around
Microsoft have backed I don't believe it , the pre-orders for the xbox one and PS4 must have told a sad tale for microsoft's xbox one. I must say this this makes me happy that they have listened to their customers on these two really big issues.
I'm still going to get a gaming PC tho :)

They only changed their stance due to some new legislation in the house that was going to force them to rewrite most their system anyway.

I seriously think they were looking at a fail on the level of the Jaguar or Cd-I here. I doubt anything less would have changed their position so drastically and quickly. This is less about 'listening to the customers' and more of 'Oh shit! We're totally hosed if we try to get away with this! Abort! Abort! Abort!'.

Still not buying one anywhere near at launch, but I wasn't going to anyway.

However, I might consider it in a few years now because of this reversal. Though, to be honest I'd need this legislation to pass and get rid of HAL before I really considered it. If everything falls into place and the Kinetic is nerfed by legislation, I might actually get one at some point. That is after a price drop if there are enough exclusive games that I can't play on PC available to justify it.

Considering the architecture I kind of doubt it, it was built for easy PC ports to begin with, I don't really care about using Kinetic, and considering how the 360 lineup went, I seriously don't think there will be enough to really justify buying a console for a handful of games. My PC is already quite a bit more than twice as powerful as the Xbox 1 anyway.

I'll be getting a PS4 in a few years probably, as Sony tends to have more actual exclusives that I won't be able to get on PC. Microsoft not so much. No point in getting one at launch as while it does have a Hardware advantage of the Xbox 1, it's still less than half as powerful as my PC and the exclusive line up isn't enough to justify $399 at this point for me.

I'm not totally sure about that, as PS4 games will also be easy ports for PC due to the new architecture as well. We'll likely see more PS4 ports to PC than we did with the PS3. Though, I do think that there will be more 'true' exclusives with Sony's console in the end.

Right now I see no need for either as I'm already beyond 'next gen' to begin with. Still, this has made the Xbox 1 more interesting to me, and I'm pretty sure, but not positive, I'll end up with at least a PS4 sooner or later.

Still not sold on it, but I wouldn't have even remotely considered buying one at any point ever if they'd not reversed this.
