Your friend is trying to play one of the worse coded console port games (read: unoptimized) with a very dated computer that I doubt is even capable of playing such a game but... I will still try to help you by telling you what I would do. This does not necessarily means he will be able to play the game!

I would get the latest Audio and Video drivers from VIA and Intel or MSI since that is an Onboard video card... save the drivers into a Temp Folder of your choosing.

Download CCleaner and save it to that same temp folder... get to the folder and install it.

Uninstall the drivers (Audio & Video) you have now, restart your PC into safe Mode, run CCleaner... run Cleaner & Registry as well. Once you are done restart again and get to your desktop... allow Win 7 to install generic drivers (give it a few minutes). If it asks you to restart, do so, if not, do so anyways once it tells you that Win7 finished installing the drivers.

Go to your temp folder and right click on each driver so you can "Run as Administrator", do not restart until you are done installing both drivers. Say a few prayers while the pc is restarting and cross your fingers.

Also, once you do this, you may want to try to patch the game, if you can't because of the error, try downloading the patches manually and install manually as well... if all else fails, you may want to uninstall the game and install it again now that you have new drivers but, again, I doubt you'll be able to play the game.

    Good Luck.
