Half Life 2 won't work on my netbook

I'm trying to get it running on my netbook as I read it could work fine here and I met the min requirements

    specs:
Windows 7 32-bit, CPU: Intel Atom N455, GPU: Intel GMA 3150 with latest driver, 1GB RAM, Samsung N145Plus.
HL2 is set to the lowest settings and 800x600.
I get successfully on main menu and start a new game, then after a few seconds of the intro the sound loops and I get the "display driver has stopped responding" error several times until it freezes up completely with a buzzing noise and I have to reset the netbook.
It works fine on my desktop, though.

    what can I do?

    Thanks

Display driver most likely correlates to your graphics from what I know. If it stops working, you may need to update or try to reinstall your graphics drivers from your manufacturer's website or from Intel.com, I'm not too sure. I wouldn't recommend playing games on a Netbook even if it does meet the minimal requirements, sorry . Seeing as it's a netbook, it's probably not powerful enough which, on the contrary, your desktop is.

Many thanks for your reply finally got it to work by forcing it to Directx 8 BUT it is horrific SLOW so you're right, netbook is not made for (even old) games

Half Life 2 is so well coded and a very good/finished product that will almost play on floppy diskettes

Did you updated your Audio and Video Drivers?
