I am using the full fledged final version of 7 - build number 7600 - we got it for free already from our university.
another update - the freezes really seem to be related to other applications running in the background. when I close skype, winamp and any other media player my computer doesn't freeze when playing starcraft.
I agree with the last post. The freeze ups dont happen to me if I close winamp.
the problem I now have with windows 7 home premium is that it keeps asking me for the CD even after the latest patch that supposedly fixed that.
I'm working on a fix bro..... gimme some time I'll figure out what is causing that.
you need to follow these instructions:
Blizzard Support
Windows Users:
- Make sure you have "Hide extensions for known types" unchecked. To do this please use the following steps:
- Click Start -> Programs -> Accessories -> Windows Explorer
- Click on Tools -> Folder options (Windows Vista users may have to press the Alt key to see the tools option at the top of the window)
- Click on the View Tab In the list, look for the "Hide extensions for known file types" option, and make sure that it is unchecked.
- Click OK to save the changes.
- Now you will need to copy some files from the Game CDs - If you own only StarCraft, copy "INSTALL.EXE" from the StarCraft CD to your StarCraft folder and rename it to "StarCraft.mpq".
- If you own StarCraft: Brood War, copy "INSTALL.EXE" from the StarCraft: Brood War CD to your StarCraft folder and rename it to "BroodWar.mpq". If you wish to play the StarCraft original missions then please copy and rename the install file from the original StarCraft CD as well, as listed directly above.
applying the patch alone isn't enough!!!
Sure, everyone is having the color issue. I fixed that a long time ago. The question now is why starcraft is choppy for me, on any computer I use, except for my laptop that has 1.3 ghz and 1 gb of ram, RUNNING windows 7 Ultimate RTM.
I have installed chipset drivers, I have installed video drivers from nvidia's site, I've gone to windows basic, and it still doesn't cut it.
