    Win7
ok, Im with good news for you! speaking about known fixes, it make a difference in SC work, but gives no final solution to prevent machine from freezing.
I had this freesing with winamp 5.2 running (playing or not), but it would be anything else, maybe antivirus DrWeb.
    the way I choose:
    - no compatibility flags does anything. you may check it in any way you like, i decided not to use it.
    - its fun to open screen resolution dialog before SC launch. it prevents from color artifacts
    - and run your BIOS (!!!) setup and look at "Advanced\CPU settings" tab. what did I set:
+ GART Error Reporting: Disable (recomended)
+ Microcode Updation: Disable (what need in such updation?)
+ Secure Virtual Machine Mode: Disable (check as you wish, it can make no differecne)
+ Cool n Quiet: Enable (so I use it)
+ CPU Prefetching: Enable (I dont know what is this)
    + (!) C1E Configuration: Disable (it`s critical. this is a thing)
    - also i fixed a problem when additional buttons on my X-718 dont work during game. I disabled PS/2 mouse support (BIOS\Boot\Boot Settings Configuration\PS/2 Mouse Support: Disable). There is no PS/2 mouse port on M3N78 :)

If you are Intel user, check "CPU Speed Stepping" option in such way, but I`m not sure.
If I will not post anything other on this topic, you may be sure that this work.

of course! i found out what is happening. on fresh new installiation of win7 I had no problen with freezing, but it appeared after driver installation for ATK0110. first it appeared with question in device manager, but system worked well and I didn`t look at that.
try disable it if you want, but my prev post also solves this bug.

Oh wow! this actually works in game. Amazing. Wish blizzard would make a patch so starcraft could be supported. I know they can do it since the game launches...

Hey i have a question considering this seems the right topic for starcraft.
I had my sc workin good, colors were off on the intro, but in battlenet and playing was fine.
I changed my screen resolution to 1920-1080 because thats the recommended res for my tv/monitor.
it cuts out the border part of the game.
i.e. cant see gas or money ammounts, bottom right logo in the control hud is missing.
    any ideas?
i tried goin to properties to change the game res, but i couldnt.
PM me if you have a solution

The problem is with the windows Aero them if you change the theme to Windows Classic and then open the screen resolution screen it works every time and I have created a .bat file that does it all in one click and changes back to your original theme on exit. Some paths may have to be different but it works.

Hey guys, just stumbled upon this thread.

Anyways, I'm glad to see that Starcraft works on Windows 7. I'll report back later today and let you know if this fix works on an Acer Aspire One netbook with 7 Starter.

Thanks again OP for finding a fix for this game. Makes me happy that I can SC it up while at the library or something to that effect.
