I can confirm this fix, though with an addendum.

"Screen Resolution" must be open. Further, the personalized theme must be a non-Aero theme, such as Windows Classic or the other high contrast themes. Windows 7 Basic would not work, neither would the other Aero-based theme selections. To adjust this, open "Personalize".

I'm using Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit, ATI Radeon HD 5770, and LG 1920x1080 display, in a Gateway DX4300-e15 desktop. Game at patch update 1.16.1.

So how's your half baked post contributing to any kind of solution?

Touche. though its been pretty much proven so far that the win7 freezes occur regardless of what you run in the background so its simpler to just go for the VPC.

Again, I failed to see the reasoning of your post. Pehaps I had higher expectations

The dx11 card's working great so far. I haven't had the screen issues you're referring to, and forgive me, I don't know what AF is. Further, I don't have any freezes at all, and I'm not running a virtual pc. (AMD Phenom X2 Quadcore 810)

It's prudent to wait for the dx11 hardware implementations to mature before acquiring the cutting edge.

    I don't know what AF
Radeon HD5xxx Filtering Quality - Technewshw.com The solid grey area in the images is an AF deadzone. the difference pics in the followup posts shows that there is no difference between 8x and 16x (clearing showing broken 16xAF)
I'm not running a virtual pc
Its better to use VM/VPC (not Windows VistualPC/VPC2009) to install XPMode and use that to run starcraft, warcraft, worms, etc as all of these have both the colour glitch, and the freeze fixed. infact i reproduced the freeze running Starlancer in Software mode :|. fingers crossed that Compatibility toolkit 6.0 or SP1 solves this.

    just find 100% working solution

hi, i obviously had the same problem as u guys with SC and stumbled upon this thread to see a solution but the solution given in this thread doesn't work for me. Tried all combination of compatibility crap and doesn't fix it either. Finally i came upon this solution on other site:
make a bat file named Starcraft.bat and put this code in there

    taskkill /f /IM explorer.exe
    D:\"Games"\starcraftbw\StarCraft.exe

right click->text document-> paste the above-> save it as .bat and select all files not text document.

First line kills the explorer and the second obviously it is the path to your game and thus it starts the game automatically when this file is double clicked. After u run this file the explorer is gone and desktop is empty and the game starts with fine colors as the game is intended to be played. After u quit the game u dont have the explorer but this is easy fixable, just press ctrl+alt+del and run task manager->new task and type explorer.exe and all is back. This is only thing that worked for me i hope it works for u. Sorry if this solution was posted before my post on this thread.

RE #158: just find 100% working solution

    More automatic option:

Write these into your .bat file:

    Code:
    taskkill /f /IM explorer.exe
    "...\StarCraft\StarCraft.exe"
    start explorer.exe
    start exit
NOTE: .../ represents the location that you have installed StarCraft.

Interesting, it seems the desktop slideshow messes up colors if you've gotten it to work by opening Screen Resolution as well as changing the visual theme to windows classic or other high contrast.
