Microstutter using an official Xbox360 wired controller

Hi guys, just wondering if anyone here has encountered and solved this issue for themselves. Every few seconds I get a (noticeable) fraction of a second of lag when I'm playing a game with a controller on my PC. Using a keyboard and mouse, and I have no such troubles, which is why I'm convinced that it has something to do with the controller. In general, the internet suggests that it's the driver, but so far I've had no luck with any other drivers either. Here's a list of things I've tried:

-MotioninJoy MotioninJoy | Playstation 3|Xbox 360|Dualshock 3|Sixaxis|Game|Driver| This actually just didn't detect my controller for some reason, so I couldn't do anything with it.


I have also tried using another type of controller (a Razer Onza), and it had the same issue. I made sure that all of my other drivers are up to date as well. My computer is not in power saving mode, and I have tried unplugging all of my other USB devices.


As for system specs, I'm running Windows 7 on a custom built PC with a Gigabyte GA-Z87X-UD3H motherboard, NVIDIA GeForce GTX 770 graphics card, and an intel i5-4670k processor. Currently neither the graphics card nor the processor is overclocked. I have a friend with an identical PC who does not have this issue. I am totally at a loss as to what to do next, and I'm really hoping someone here can help me out. Thanks!

I got lag the first time I used my 360 controller, so I switched to the Onza because I wanted to see if the problem was specific to that controller (The Onza belongs to my friend and it works fine for him on his more or less identical PC). They also both use the standard 360 controller driver.
