Fallout 3 is a buggy game and its even more buggy on windows 7, and even more buggy if that win7 is a 64bit edition. Install Vista especially if u run 64bit configuration. I get random Fallout crashes to on my system, every 5min or every 2hours, i dunno what the cause is , i cant explain, tryed all fixes. I have the same Fallout 3 with 1.5 patch + 3 DLC . Somethimes display driver goes crazy , screen freezes for 1min, the goes back online, thats when it reseted. Win7 drivers are crap.

    Two monitors?

After having FO3 crash while loading after a fresh install, I spent an hour going through all of the tips on this thread, to no avail.

Until I hit the one that mentioned turning off the second monitor.

It worked immediately. I haven't played for any length of time, but just thought I'd mention it, because it's REALLY easy to test...

I finally got my copy to work(ish).
    My problem:
The launcher itself seemed to be working good, but when i pressed "Play" the screen just turned black, flickered once and then i was back at my desktop.

    My solution, sofar working:
I checked the "windowed mode" box in options. the game starts as it should, too bad im playing in a frame, instead of fullscreen.

thanks to all you guys who help get this started.

I don't think GMA cards work for any game made past 2003. Ge-force 8xxx cards are relatively cheap now (some <$50), maybe its time for an upgrade.

I can't believe how often I see people trying to run recent 3D games on Intel graphics chips. They're just not made for that, guys!

Q: I have FO3 installed on D: drive, and I retained my save game files from my Windows XP installation. If I reinstall the game, where do I put my Fallout 3 save games folder?

It'll go in some %User% file. not near home computer now. Easy way, start it up, save the game. Then look in C:\Users\%user%\ folder for something Fallout 3 related. Probably Documents, maybe Games.

    X:\Users\YourNameHere\MyDocuments\My Games\Fallout3

when you install the game, I'm pretty sure it makes that folder automatically, so it should be easy to find. :)
