Major frame rate problems in many games

Hi all
An issue i have been having for some time has resurfaced recently, when i bough a few new games for my pc.
When i am playing a game (exemples: Brutal legend, Darksiders, Batman: Arkham asylum), It works fine for maybe a minute, and then i get a large frame rate drop - its not a lag spike, it almost feels like the game is showing the frames at half speed, or with gaps between them or something.

Obviously i tried changing the video settings - While the recommended settings were all high, even setting them all to minimal or low made no difference. While working or with this massive frame rate loss, there was no noticeable difference.

It may or may not make any difference, but one game i have NOT had this issue on is minecraft

Well the standard first response answer to performance issues is to update your drivers, and defrag all drives.

Are you playing with a gamepad or some sort of 3rd party controller or input device? What type? It could be something you're not using that's plugged into your PC as well. Sometimes input devices can interfere with games. For example FEAR has symptoms similar to yours if certain Logitech products are installed.

Try this. Go to control panel, open up device manager, and disable the HID compliant devices. [Only the things that specifically say 'HID Compliant Device' there may be a few 'HID compliant consumer control device' as well, but you should just leave them.] You probably don't want to leave them all off, but if the framerate issue is solved, you should be able to enable one at a time and pinpoint which device is causing the problem if it is some sort of hardware issue. You could disable them one at a time, but it's easier to just disable all of them and then enable them one at a time to pinpoint the specific problem if having them all off fixes the issue.

You can also try unplugging any extra USB devices from your PC. You'd be surprised what can interfere with games just by being plugged in, anything from wireless dongles to USB headphones can cause issues.

Updating the graphics driver totally didnt work.
Also, i totally dont feel like a complete idiot for not trying that first.

Maybe your laptop is in Battery Saving Mode that's why it switches on Intel HD.

Guys, the thread is marked as solved :P the graphics update did it. I have the power settings done right as well, thats not an issue
