Since I don't really keep up with games news these days (avoid hype, avoid disappointment) I just noticed Sniper Elite III is 6 days away from release... I hit pre-order as fast as my fingers could lol. I absolutely loved Sniper Elite V2 and was just wondering today when the 3rd version was to be released. If it's as good as V2, I'll be a happy chap. X-ray cam of Exploding heads and testicles just doesn't get old
In the mobile area, I've been playing a bit of Deer hunter 2014 and Real Racing 3 on the iPad. I flat out refuse to pay for in app gold or tokens so progression can be damn slow, but it's still fun for a quick toilet gaming session lol.
Although Real Racing 3 can be played as long as you like if you don't mind re-racing completed events to make cash (which I don't). Since it's an EA backed game (boo) it has a high quality finish and some good licensing for cars and tracks. Using tilt for steering works pretty well too. It also looks really good at the retina display resolution. I can't wait till 4K displays become the norm, or at least affordable. It's going to make 1080/1200P look so 320x240... :)
However the more I play some of these mobile games, the more I'm really disappointed that "in app purchases" is the direction devs have gone. Understandable why, but it's ruining some potentially really fun and repayable games. There's some great new IP and gameplay styles that are just flatout ruined by greed
