hehe worry not it's absolutely natural to feel that gtx 660 is getting old now coz last November I felt same for my gtx 760 and decided to sell it out which I did ordered gtx 970 and voila I got my order on 24th (3 days ago) and guess what! I had a coil whine problem in my unit which was I guess louder than anything and even on v-sync I was able to hear those squeeeking noises and returned for a replacement
If I had money to burn I may considered buying an expensive GPU but, due to the mediocre console ports we get as of late, I don't really put much thought into an expenditure of such caliber since I doubt very much, the game will allow me to utilize the full card's potential anyways and by the time they are done bringing patches for the game, I may have done a second pass over so I really don't care to go a third one just to test my new card on Ultra Super Duper High... you know?
If I played MP then I may considerate but for a Campaign only Player, I think I do ok with the 660.
It would have taking me to the brink of suicide had I spent 500 + cheeseburgers on a high end GPU to play CoD Ghosts or Warfighter or FC4 in the states that they were when launched.
Again, perhaps I think this way because I don't have money burning a hole in my pocket, although... I wish I could answer this from the other point of view

ArmA, Wolfenstien, Metro 2033, Last Light, ... Plenty of non "console port" style games that look gorgeous with a high end GPU. Grid 2, Tomb Raider... I'm sure I could keep going. Ps. I think the 960 is under 200 bucks right now. And should run most games on "ultra super super high". ;p
I tend to buy any newer games on my PS4 and generally get them on PC when they are on sale or cheaper several months later then trade in my ps4 copy. I love my PC and games look insane on it even with a GTX660 but sometimes I don't want the hassle of tweaking settings for hrs to get it perfect. Stalker: Call of Pripyat jumps to mind, I spend days trying to get rid of stutter/freezing when moving about with no luck, I guess this is down to the game devs not optimizing the game as much as they should lol.

I recently became a mod on a Prop Hunt server for Garry's Mod, so that's what I usually play. It's fun and casual.
But I'll be jumping back into Just Cause 2, Rage and Fallout 3 GOTY + New Vegas pretty soon, too.
I know my way around computers but I am no PC guru in any stretch of my imagination. Being said this, I went to try to compare the specs my Asus GTX660 with a similar Asus GTX960 and while this ones has more MHZ than mine, everything else is pretty much the same so I am wondering if someone here wants to throw me a bone and explain how much more is the 960 better than mine
