hello pinstripe, i just register in this forums today. i think your solution might fix my problem but before i do anything..i should tell you what problem i'm having.

    first my computer specs

    Intel Quad-Core i5 750 @ 2.66GHz 3.20GHZ
    4GB RAM
ATI Radeon HD 5870 (catalyst version 10.2 drivers)
    Windows 7 64bit
    Directx11

OCZ Vertex 32gb - that's where my game is installed, in Program Files (x86) and i'm Steam user

    Ingame Resolution: 1680x1050

anyway here is my problem. I play Battlefield Bad Company 2 and when i'm playing online i see people/vehicles lagging. It's really annoying trying to shoot someone, only to see them skipping across my screen. like if i'm running behind them they will ninja vanish a few steps and i'm like wtf mate..nothing else lags just people ninja vanishing on ma ass..i tried everything, putting my graphics settings from advanced to low and still nothing...if someone could help me out that would be great cuz i love this game and i been trying to find a solution for this the day this game was released...please and thank you.

2 threads that deal with Battlefield BC2 tweaks/issues may be of more help with your specific BBC2 problems than what is discussed in this thread

does this effect people with certain hardware or can this happen to anyone?

Seems to happen to a wide variety of system/hardware configs. No one thing can be pointed out as the culprit

Ive had this problem along with a huge amount of people on 1943. they promised a fix for that game long before this year started and when they did fix it a week or two later it happened again. The problem is EA does not care about its consumer once it buys the game nor does dice give a hoot to fix it. IDK if this is the same problem as what the 1943 community felt before BBC2. But if it is EA's or DICE's technical fault you better hope that it does not turn out like 1943! This is the reason i refrained from getting the game.

Edited my post, as I found out reinstalling my sound card drivers fixed high latency issues.

I think this is the problem im having currently, could you guys help point me in the right direction before i start messing with settings?

I just finished with my new build:

    Windows 7 x64
    I7-860
    Sapphire Vapor-x 5870
    etc etc..

So far ive only installed two games and both seem to have sound/lag issues. Torchlight runs great until i hit a lot of mobs at once with an aoe, whenever that happens the game will freeze for a split second instead of running smoothly like it should with so much power behind it. My second problem is in BFBC2, when playing online i experience some very awkward lag. When i jump into a vehicle that someone else is piloting it bounces around and stutters around, this even occurs when im watching someone else drive/fly around me at times. The other issue is that this lag appears to be making my hitboxes very awkward, having to aim behind people and watch their sometimes jerky movements makes playing very annoying.

To compare, I upgraded from a dual 8800gt, core 2 duo e8500, Vista setup using the exact same internet connection and playing on the same servers as before. Never did i encounter any of these issues when playing before, vehicles moved very smoothly and player models acted much more precise when being shot at.

Is this what the fix is for? Or am i encountering a different problem

    Edit:

I should also note that joining games and the updating stats portion of logging into BFBC2 takes much longer on this machine than my previous one.

I have a 4890 and have torchlight and used to get the slowdown in mobs but it seemed to be fixed for me in a patch to the game but I haven't played in awhile so I don't know if something has changed

the long load problems of ATI cards is a know problem listed on the EA/DICE bug/gliches thread:

    - Users with ATI cards are experiencing longer-than-normal load times between rounds, usually having 3x the load times as NVIDIA card users (Example: 30sec+ wait times with Core i7 + HD5870). [especially on DX10]

I am running the game in DX10 with the 10.3b Cats without alot problems except for the long map load times

you can find some useful game tweaks discussed in those forums (a tweak thread is stickied or you can try to sift through the thousands of threads)

I had the same problem in COD4 (slow loading of the maps and higher pings than before in xp)

I have amd phenom 3.4, radeon 8570, 6 gb ram etc.
After trying all fixes (pinstripe's methods, latrix latency fix, yamicsoft windows7 manager, reinstalling all network driver versions etc etc) i decided to format again.

Today, with the clean install i'm back again to the good ol days.
    60 ms, when i had 120 before.
I didnt apply any network tweak or registry and i wish it wont get worse.
Also, i created a second partition with xp64 in any case i find lag in wars that i'm playing pretty often.
