Possible to edit a downloaded rar file game?

I downloaded a very small match 3 game (yeah, sissy stuff). All games I get are rar files so I know all about opening them. I use 7-zip. I also know I can open the file in wordpad. Unfortunately, when I do that, it is gibberish. There are a few things about this game that I would like to see if I can edit in that rar file. A couple of things just make it extremely annoying. Are these downloaded files mostly password protected? Is there a way to open it in wordpad so I can actually read it? I'm bored and these games help pass the time. I realize I may be just dreaming here but, any input is very much appreciated!

.RAR is an archived file or files for compression, you want to edit what inside that, not that actual file. Once youve unRAR'd it, what files are you presented with?

    Thanks for the reply,
After I download, I put the rar in a new folder on my desktop. I (un)rar it in that same folder and just have an exe and the rar file. I don't archive anything if that makes a difference. What I want to do is open the rar file in WordPad or whatever so I can see if it is editable. I can open it but, it is all in hieroglyphics.

No the RAR file is an archived file, used to compress the game files in this case the .exe

Use this to open extract the .exe Universal Extractor | LegRoom.net
Use this to reassemble the files into a .exe file How To Make An "EXE" Installation File
