    Well go to the location as said above (C:\Users\[your login name]\AppData\Roaming\My Battle for Middle-earth(tm) Files folder), right click anywhere, scroll over new New, then click on Note pad file. Name the file Options
    Open the file and copy:

    AudioLOD = High
    HasSeenLogoMovies = yes
    IdealStaticGameLOD = High
    Resolution = 1024 768
    StaticGameLOD = High
    TimesInGame = 5

    On to the file, then press save as, then on the bit where it says: Save as type, select All Files then name the file Options.ini in the same location so it will save it as an .ini file and your done!

    DarkMac, I can not tell you how much I appreciate you posting those awesome step by step instructions, Battle for Middle Earth II is one of my favourite games and when I got my new computer I wasn't able to play it. When looking for other forums, none helped, even the microsoft web site, which just told me to buy the newest versions of the game. I was so grateful for your help that I made a forum account just to post this. Thanks SO MUCH!!! It 100% Worked P.S I Hope you like my account name :)

    Guys after a months long search at last i have my game up and running

    After doing all this if your game hangs then create the options.ini folder as mentined in the previuos posts.And that will let you get into the game test it first in skirmish for 10 mins and then go online to play.. have fun gaming guys:))))))

    There exists a BUG that some people experience in Rise of the Witch King where you are automatically defeated 3 minutes and 30 seconds after any particular battle begins. EA Tech Support tells me it is a safety feature, such that if the computer thinks you have a cracked (pirated) version of the game, it will cause you to loose at the 3 minute 30 second mark.

    Uninstall both BFME II and BFMEII: RotWK
    - run "ccleaner" to clean out both your computer and registry (or any other registry cleaner)
    (can be downloaded free here: CCleaner - Free software downloads and software reviews - CNET Download.com )

    - download and save each game's respective patch (remember the location you save them to)

    -reboot in safe mode (hold F8 while the computer is rebooting)

    -install BFMEII, then ROTWK

    -once both games have been installed in safe mode, locate the patches for both games which you saved earlier, and run both of them (still in safe mode).

    -reboot your computer normally and you should be good to go!
    Just wanna say thanks you for finding this solution! I am new here and have been looking for a fix for a long time now. After installing both games, then patching all in safe mode, then restarting and putting in the INI file for options. It finally worked!

    I am also struggling to get battle for middle earth 2 to run on my 64bit os, i have read through all of this tried most of it with no success. I have tried the options file (but somehow i lost the "my battle for middle earth 2 folder" and no matter how many times i installed and uninstalled the game i didn't get the folder back-so then my friend sent me a copy of the folder). But when i first installed it on my pc it came up with the loading screen, but now not even that, the mouse recognises i clicked it waits and then nothing. If i try to load it from "my computer" it comes up with the screen lets me do the updates but then when i click play a wait then nothing again! i seriously have no clue as to what to do to make this, and the expansion work :/
    Any help is appreciated.

    Help!

    I'm having the same problem and I have read this thread over and over again among other forums etc and no matter what I try the game still wont load!
    I've created an .ini file and saved the notes mentions previously. I've changed the compatibility and tried running the game as the administrator. I've tried uninstalling and re-installing the game over and over again and updating all the patches and still nothing. None of the extractable download "fixes" work that I've tried....

    What else can I try or should I just give up?
