Not only the poorly written game, but the connection always seems to freeze up. If you've made it part of the o/s, then dedicate some robust servers to handle the traffic.

    Backgammon

It is rather obvious that the dice rolling is pathetic. When someone leaves the game you are destined to play the computer at which time you cannot lose since it makes some unreal moves and the dice are totally irrational. With that fact in mind, I don't believe the dice when playing someone else either. Example: When you have your opponent totally beaten and there is only one dice roll that can prevent them from being totally blocked, the dice will always roll the required move to beat you. I don't care if it requires the largest odds or the smallest odds, the computer will always nail you. This game is not even close to being realistic.

    How to ruin a game

I could not agree more, How hard would it be to alter the program so that if the opponent backs out the game is an automatic match win. \
They need to fix the server, third world technology is not good enough.
The AI is rubbish, the computer player is obviously an absolute novice with no idea of the game.
The dice thrower is playing with loaded dice, far too many coincidental throws, in fact you can after a while predict exactly when the whole thing is going to go sideways.

Get real Windows 7 team this was a great game and it is now crap.

Speak up and let them know,

I do not like having to nudge someone to play. Today, for example, I had to nudge my opponent every single time before they would make a play. Why did he/she bother? For that matter, why did I? Just to see how long they would play their stupid "mind game". There should be a better way of forcing people to either play or get off the playground.

Having enjoyed Windows XP Professional for many years, and playing Backgammon, I was looking forward to continuing my playing when I recently purchased a new computer loaded with Windows 7.

Well, I must say that the Backgammon game that come with 7 is pure CRAP.

Error messages often in the middle of the game, a lousy computer taking over if the other player leaves mid game, and definitely the rolls are rigged. As well, though I pick Expert, who the 'F' am I playing against? What skill level!!

One would think that with all the $$$$ this corporation makes that they would take a look at the game, and give us back the XP version!!

My thoughts: IT SUCKS BIG TIME. WHAT A PIECE OF SH*T. WHAT A.H. PUT THIS GAME TOGETHER

    Internet Backgammon Quitters

As a long time Backgammon player (over 30 years), I've grown to enjoy online Backgammon with the exception of some of the player etiquette. Seems when I play the MS Backgammon that comes with my Win 7, if I beat someone or get the right rolls, they just up and leave. Shame on that kind of poor sportsmanship.

So, I offer anyone who might be interested to play in another place for free. Its called www.gamingpeak.com and they have a free game as well as a paid game. The free game is similar to the paid, but the paid has some bells and whistles that you can do which a non paid player can't. Otherwise, its quite a nice game which you don't need to download any software for or give a credit card number to. You just register and play.

My handle there is Loner, and if you are interested in playing some good games without someone quitting, come by and visit me or reply to this message.

for those who believe that double is the essence of the game backgammon is true but not when you play online on the internet you double you win 9 times out of 10 ... you have a car you are always 300 km hour? ... you have a home theater of 1000 watts it is still up? ... you have hot water in your bath you do not put a cold water inside?

    Hackers are out there

Someone has hacked my Windows 7 backgammon account! Either they can see my IP address or they altered my game settings. When I start up a new game they repeat my last comment from a previous game. They tend to roll the dice and then not play, or some other shinanigans.

I'm sure more is happening here than I am aware of.

Is there someway to restore my settings or reload the game?

    The fix is in

I loved Windows XP backgammon, but the version in Windows 7 is quite frustrating. I have played this game enough to know that the dice are not random, in fact, the game tries to even out the play when playing a live person. Too many times, say 2 out of 5, a 17-1 or 35-1 roll happens against you when you are ahead. This affects your play as you have to be ulta conservative, and assume the "fix is in." This does not help you develope any experience.
It gets frustrating when an opponent quits and you either quite or play the totally non-random game against the computer. It tries to let you backgammon it and that is the only way to win the match, or be bored to death playing the computer.
