    Saving unsavable games

Are there any workarounds to save the games you can't save? Some saving the process? Pseudo-hibernating?

I have one idea: hibernate, boot a Linux distro, copy the hiberfil.sys and restore it if possible. Is it feasible?

Say, Napoleon Total War. It is savable in the grand-strategy mode, but during the battle, you can't do it. And if a battle is to be more than an hour long, this might be a problem - you can't spend all time gaming. It'd be better to continue it the other day or so.
