I recently started having frame rate issues with Source games as well. I found that if I go to the Network and Sharing Center and Change adapter settings section if I disable and re-enable my network it fixes the problem. I have no idea why this fixes it and I have to do it every time I reboot.

Hey this works for me! Thanks a lot! Does your internet sometimes doesn't work when you reboot? like your connection says "limit or no connectivity"?

What kind of network adapter are you using, video card, cpu, motherboard?

    @ DarkXeno
I had the newest audio drivers from my motherboard manufacturer. However I just upgraded to the latest available drivers on the Realtek website.
    Same problem...

    @ AlexChung
vsync is already forced off. Until yesterday evening I ran CS at 100FPS.

I haven't had any problems with my internet connection not working but occasionally I get the limited or no connectivity error notification in my system tray but it seems to work anyway and goes away after a short time.

    My system specs are...
    Gigabyte GA-P35-DS3L
    C2D E6750
    4GB RAM G.Skill DDR2-1000
    Nvidia 8800GT 512MB
onboard Realtek HD sound and Realtek 8111B NIC

hhmm the next thing i would check would be msconfig and see what all is running on startup. The only things I have is anitivirus, sound, and my id reader. Also a look at the task manager is another place to see what else is running at the same time.

    My problem is solved...

There was Windows update for my network card driver (Realtek 8111B NIC). After installing this everything was back to normal.

    Thanks for the quick reactions.

I have the exact same setup as you, same GA-EP35-DS3L motherboard, only difference is that I have an Intel Q6600.

I wonder if this problem is because of the bios drivers. I'll update it sometime to see if it fixes it

I also have this same setup
    Gigabyte GA-P35-DS3R
    Q6600
    4GB RAM
    Nvidia 8800GT 512MB
onboard Realtek HD sound and Realtek 8111B NIC

Check if Windows update offers an update for the Realtek 8111B NIC. Installing this solved the problem for me.
