Call of duty world at war mouse issue

I have a ttesports theron infrared gaming mouse. It has those thumb buttons which work great on windows for going back and forth of web pages.
But in cod I want to set the back button to melee attack, but when in the game as soon as I press either thumb button the game minimises, throwing me back to the desktop. Then when you click the tab to maximise it back up, the game freezes. Help !
It works fine on bf3 and mw4. But why not waw?

IRQ conflicts with another device perhaps?

Either Mouse with Printer or Mouse with Scanner or Bluetooth, etc, etc... try disconnecting all other usb devices, restart and play the game as is and if there are no problems you know one of those devices is conflicting with the mouse and if you don't need them when you are playing, the simple solution is to turn them off when playing.
