    Server problems?

Hello, I have a problem in windows 7 (obviously). First of all, I just recently got Left 4 Dead. The campaign was so fun I decided to play online. So I download xfire to talk to my friends online. But it wont connect to the server telling me this exact message, "Error connecting to Xfire server. Reconnecting in 1minute 48seconds." SO after reinstalling a few times and disabling my firewall and 30-day free trial of Norton AntiVirus, I finally decide to give up. Afterward, I find some forums saying that they used a program similar to Xfire called Garena. So, I decide to try that, nothing. I cannot connect to Xfire, Garena, and what disturbs me most is that when downloading limewire I can't even download java because I have to connect to a server to access the download. So basically my internet speed runs at twice the speed I had on Windows XP, but I seem to have absolutely no connection or way to connect to any server at all whatsoever. Can anybody help me or at least tell me I am not the only one with this problem? If you need any specific information just tell me and I will tell you whatever you may need.
