    general questions

    Hello,
as the topic states, i have some general questions about a laptop i just got . A Dell Latitude E6430.
    a 4gb ram, with i5 3320M CPU 2.60 GHz, 64 bit and Intel HD 4000 Graphic Card.

My question is, What games can i actually run on this... ? From my steam library i only installed battleblock and it ran pretty smooth with 0 error. People tell me that intel integrated graphic cards are S*** when it comes to gaming , so i decided to get some assistance with this issue ( since accirding to "Can you run it" i cant run ANYTHING on this laptop , which is false )

Are there drivers which i need to download to upgrade the experience ( like nvidia has updates for its drivers for example ) , do i need special programs or maybe i need to tweak some settings
Looking forward to hearing every opinion

Note: I will be plugging in my Samsung HDTV SyncMaster B23330HD Monitor to this laptop in order to get 1080p ( if it can actually run that ... )

EDIT : i tried to download BF3 from origin... and my core 1 and 2 are heating up quite a lot .... how do fix this , or i shouldnt worry about it . The laptop is warm to the touch where the cpu is )

This is not a gaming computer. The HD 4000 is the entry level graphics chip at Intel. A 4600 would have been better. I recommend to run only very 'mild' games. For some of the modern games you would need a desktop with a muscular graphics card.

The heat from the CPU is not normal. You better measure that. Anything below 70C is OK.

It was a gift, i didnt have much say in what goes with the laptop. It is my first ever laptop so i have no idea what to expect from it. I already have a pc with specs set on my profile which needs serious upgrading to todays standards.
So this is nowhere near a gaming laptop... i assume the card cannot be replaced to something better ?
I been monitoring the heat and its been from 55 to 70 when i was downloading. Idle is around 45 to 48.
Could you suggest any use for this laptop and what i can actually do with it . Also if i run games on it, could i cause damage to its hardware ?

The graphics chip is integral part of the CPU - so no dice. The temps sound OK. You cannot damage the hardware unless the PC heats up too much - 80+C etc.

If its reaching 70C while downloading and browsing the web type stuff, it sounds as if its its pretty much doing all it can.
When you add a heavy load (such as a game) to it may be to much for especially for any extended period of time.

Like whs already mentioned, its simply not designed for gaming.

you can probably run some of the lighter games and some by turning all the graphics options down.
I doubt BF3 will run at an acceptable rate though.

Yes you can do that a lot of people already having this setup.

All you need is GPU, Power Supply and the device is called something like ExpressCard in which you plug in the GPU in the PCI-Express slot and power it through regular PSU and with cable just plug into the Laptop and tadaa you have proper gaming performance (depending on the GPU model of course) and most probably it detects and works just like a secondary GPU that is switchable within the OS i.e. Intel Graphics to AMD/Nvidia.

I will confirm the name of the device that is need to run this setup although in the mean while you can google for this setup as well
