I've bought a cheap game, but it's a russian one. During installation I have the "unable to write file ??????????????.txt" error. It seems this file has its name in cyrilic and my computer can't handle it and aborts the installation. Is there any simple way to install it without changing too much (I'm afraid that when I change language to Russian I won't know how to change it back, because I don't speak Russian).
Seems like you bought a pirated game with customized Installer (An Installer will always ask you to select your desired language or stay in english for the setup process).
Installer menu is in Russian and English. It's a small game made by Russians and is sold only in Russian shops or online via Russian site. I think the game alone is only in Russian with no English translation. It's ok, since it's about metal detecting and I won't need to know Russian language for that.
To be precise - installer works fine, I can setup everything, specify installation directory etc. It starts installing files but fails soon after that giving this "unable to write ??????.txt" file. I changed my keyboard to Russian and tried to make txt file with name in cyrillic and I couldn't save it on disk because it seems my Windows can't handle such names. During installation installer is trying to create such file (for example "readme.txt" in cyrillic) but cannot, and this leads to error and abortion of the whole installation.
So I'm just curious is there a simple workaround to make my windows "understand and use" filenames written in cyrillic.

seriously, I'm wondering if an anti-virus/anti-malware is silently preventing the creation of this file.
I ask this because I had several downloads [recommended by great techs such as those found here also] that I could not later find. They were silently eaten [quarantined] by my alligators in the castle moat. Lowering the drawbridge allowed the newcomers in.
It's not related to any A/Vs or anything security related, I'm pretty sure of that.
Try this:
Hit Start, type "region" and choose it from the search results. Switch to the Administrative tab, and change your system locale for non-unicode programs to russian. Restart (even if it doesn't ask you to) and try again.
I had this problem way back in the XP days and this always seemed to fix it.
If that doesn't work, I'm afraid there's a possibility that the installer just expects you to use Russian as the locale AND the display language and formatting, meaning you'd actually have to switch everything to Russian.
Also:
I like how you immediately both "recognized" one of those russian RG repacks that does what you described, but misjudged the OP thinking that's exactly what he downloaded.
90% of software installers allow you to change the setup language, you know, it's not exclusive to pirated games
