Well GTA 4 is a very demanding game (demanding means requires a fast computer). Borderlands not so much really. Resident Evil 5 even less so. I have all of these games myself.

Does your FPS get any better when you reduce the screen resolution?
I cannot remember if I get better FPS when I reduce the screen res. I will have to check tomorrow because I have to go sleep now. I will report back here tomorrow, and thanks for the help sup3rsprt.

Your cpu isn't that good. 2.33GHz is slow for most new games. The 4 cores/threads are not being utilised.

I might agree if I hadn't played Borderlands and RE5 on a single core CPU where they played quite good actually.

Depends on the clock - 2.33GHz is low and 4MB of cache is not enough for games. A Phenom II 955 would give much better framerates or a 965. Its equivalent to an E8500 in dual core games.

Those games I just mentioned, I played them on a 2.4GHz single core CPU which only has 512KB of cache. So I fail to see how a 2.33GHz quad core 4MB cache could play these games any worse.

I did say "most" - have you tried Crysis Warhead at 1080p with everything set to high and AA/AF off? The quad wouldn't work smoothly and neither would a single core. Exactly why I'm building a new system around a Phenom X4 965 @ 3.4GHz stock. That can match a Core i7 860.

Crysis will bring just about anything to its knees. But nowhere did I see the original poster bring up that particular game, nor that resolution, so I think it's irrelevant.

I think that you should get faster memory.. like 800MHz DDR2..

Probably because you are playing 32-bit games in 64-bit Windows 7.

I still play most of my games in Windows XP 32-bit. Better performance all around.

    I just wanted to say.....

    ROFLHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHHAHAHAHA

    That is all.
