Games won't run in full screen but in front of a black screen

After playing the first "Riddick" game, I have noticed that any game I start, while it is in the full screen mode, will not be maximized. As in, the resolution doesn't stretch out so anything that isn't my native desktop's resolution isn't good enough because I get black bars or to be more precise the screen is on top of a black background.
Q: Did you try ALT + ENTER?
A: I did, but my screen is full, the problem is that it isn't maximized.

Q: Did you try the right click thing with run or something like that?
A: You can guess by the question that I couldn't quite figure out what they meant.

What I'm asking is : What settings were changed for this to occur and how could I change them back?

OK, the obvious question is... did you check your native resolution in Windows CP to see whether Riddick changed something to it?

Are you saying that any other game you play does this to you? if so, have you tried going to the Main Menu Video Option of the game to see if the Res is the native one? 4:3, 16:9, 16:10, etc, etc ?

My native resolution remained the same 1600x900.
I am saying that any game does it to me. It's like it's stuck on 800 x 600 or something. I have tried, and if I put anything lower than the native one that's what happens. It's literally the game screen, not maximized, in front of a black wall.

So, can you change this on your Main Menu Options in the Game or not?

for someone needing help you are not very talkative...

None of this have worked so far. I opened up AMD Catalyst Control Center but there is no display or no drop down menu.
Is there a way to fix this through some registry? Also, the normal CCC won't open up.

Sounds like you might need to clean out and reinstall your GPU drivers.

Do you have a restore point you can go back to before this issue happened? I'd try that first, and if it doesn't work or your restore points don't go back far enough, then I'd try to uninstall the GPU drivers and install them again.

Didn't have a restore point so I tied reinstalling my GPU drivers. Didn't work.
