Microsoft Gold '98 Insists Not Enough Memory

Hey, I've just installed Microsoft Gold 1998, and on running it, it complains that I don't have 32mb of free virtual memory to allocate it (which I can assure you is a lie :P)

I've tried running it in different compatibility settings and went through the compatibility troubleshooter but nothing's working. I'd rather not have to run it in a virtual machine if nesecarry. Any help would be appreciated.

This looks like an application that is not compatible with Windows 7. Some older applications did not work on systems with more than 2 GB RAM, seeing it as a negative or very small number. 2 GB RAM was a huge amount of memory at the time, more than twice that supported in Windows 98. The program may have other issues as well. All I can suggest is using a virtual machine.

    Microsoft Gold?? Or Microsoft Golf??

I also have seen the issue in the past with one being old versions of Microsoft Flight Simulator, chalk it up to the computer being too good to run such programs especially where graphics are involved. Also have seen programs not work if there was no paging file/Virtual Memory [swapfile on WinME and earlier].

If the installation offers you an option to test your video do not accept. Sometimes this is the place where the program sees an impossible rating for the system and cancels. Have got by a couple of times with this.
