Games with black bars in ATI hd2400

Good afternoon, is the following, I have an ATI Mobility HD2400 already installed the latest drivers for the windows7, but all the games I install steam, they get black bars aside, I am talking about counter strike 1.6 and left 4 dead, and only get to play in widescreen. Is there any solution to can play in normal mode?

    Regards,
    DREEP :)

If you want 4:3 resolution, set one of them.

If you want 16:9/10 resolution, set one of them.

Please refer to post #10. Keeping on asking about it isn't going to change the answer.

I take it English isn't your first language so maybe you are just having trouble understanding what torrentg is saying. In order to play the games without the black bars on the side the game must be running in a resolution that has the same aspect ratio your monitor has, in this case 16:10.

In counter strike go to options and then the video tab. In the drop down box that says Aspect Ratio you want to pick 16:10 then you will be able to pick a 16:10 resolution from the Resolution drop down box. Most likely if you have a newer monitor you will want to pick 1680x1050 or 1440x900. The process will be pretty similar for Left4Dead but I believe the menu is a little different. Just look for an Aspect Ratio setting and make sure it is set to 16:10 and then choose a resolution.

Yes, I don't know much english. I know I can play without black bars in 16:9 aspect ratio but I want to know how can I play in 800x600 stretched, forcing 16:9 aspect ratio.

You don't really want to do that. Here are screenshots showing you why. The first is 1280x1024 which is 1.25 (5:4 or 10:8) aspect ratio and correctly displayed.

The second is the same image stretched out to 1680x1050 which is now at 16:10, 1.6 aspect ratio like you want to do. You can see why it's not a good thing to do to your games. Look at how the bottom of the calendar in orange is a square and then in second picture, it is a rectangle.

Simple. In the same video options where you change the resolution there is an option called display mode. Just change it from "run in a window" to "Full screen".

Not that I want to keep the game in windowed mode but occupy the entire screen.
