League of Legends freeze after login

    Hi,

As you can see by the title, my League of Legends client will freeze my computer for 10 - 20 seconds each time i log in AFTER rebooting my computer. I searched the internet for a fix, some say it's something to do with steam, others antivirus and others talking about internet explorer settings. For the most part i tried all. (You can still say the solution you think will work, who knows it might be the ultimate solution :) )

The company that makes the game "Riot Games" says it's something to do with Windows Updates which i didn't try messing with them because it's a lot of updates, still i don't believe it because somehow i got it fixed like a month ago, unfortunately a week ago it came back.

The reason i come to ask for help is because i used DBAN on my hard disk and after installing Windows and all the updates i installed League of Legends and surprisingly it still freeze my computer.

Dunno if it's relevant but the client stays like this:

I contacted Riot Games for help but it didn't work (way before using DBAN)

If anyone has any idea i would be grateful if you could share it :)

And if some diagnostics file or something else is needed, just ask and i'll do my best to provide it.

(Can also share what Riot Games said)

Thank you very much for your help in advanced.

Update: If I close the client and log in again, it doesn't freeze and the images are all there, in some rare occasions even if it freezes the images appear after

Eh, you are not updating windows because there are a lot of updates or did you finally update it? :)

If not, can you post a screenshot of Windows Update after you manually search for updates? Screenshots and Files - Upload and Post in Seven Forums

If you suspect AV doing it, you can add steam folder to AV exclusion list.

Searched for LoL on Steam just now and couldn't find it. Did you install from Steam on a previous date? Tried the client from LoL site directly?

It's not from steam, it's the LoL site directly.

I installed all the updates after installing Windows, i tried deactivating my antivirus (now AVG) and i also manually added the game to the firewall or the antivirus and even Windows firewall.

I literally have no idea why it happens

When i contacted the support of the game they said this to me:

    1) You currently have Kaspersky and IObit security software running. These programs will conflict with each other and should both be removed.

    2) Curse voice should be removed from your system as it is not supported by League and can cause issues with its performance.

    3) Switching to a Public DNS can improve your connection. If the DNS you are using is out of date or corrupt, this will prevent you from connecting to our servers.

    What i think about:

    1) Before i had this problem i had this setup no problems, and when i randomly fix it, it was still my setup

    2) Even without it it freezes ^^'

    3) I searched it but it seemed dangerous :/

It been more than 3 months that i have this problem, that's why i thought even if this forum is for windows 7, maybe someone would have a clue on what to do

    1) Get rid of IObit. You can search forums for all the problems with it.

    2) You only have this problem when you first login, right? So Curse voice isn't causing the problem I guess.

    3) OpenDNS is used by many, but it really depends on how close/far you are to the servers. GoogleDNS - some people just don't like it because of tracking issues.

3 looks like the most likely one among these three. If you can't get a timely response from DNS server, you may be waiting for that, and when you get the IP address it is cached and any subsequent attempts are therefore faster.

Try adding OpenDNS and see if it will help.

Do you know what IP LoL connects to when you start the client? Maybe if you start Resource Monitor and start LoL, check the box next to LoL process in monitor and see IP address. Maybe you can add it to HOSTS file (search for it) and see if it will help.

Well, i got rid of Iobit and started a rampage on my register ^^''

I have a image of the C: partition after installing all the updates so i restored and this time only installed the game, still nothing.
Before i used the installation folder from before using DBAN so i would not have to download the 4-5 Gb of the game.

After that i tried using OpenDNS, still freezes. As for the IP, i'm confused about what the Resource Monitor is telling me because there are a lot of IP's that League of Legends uses or at least it seemed.

Basically the freeze happens after the login, after i log in it charges the interface (loading circle?) and after that it freezes. Can't figure out what it could be

Didn't think on doing that, but it still froze :/

Would Safe Mode with Networking maybe help ? Haven't really ever used it so i don't know

The game does have logs for the game, network and more but it's a lot of stuff and i don't understand much

I am not sure if I can find anything from the logs but doesn't hurt to take a look. Zip them up and attach here (if size permits) or to cloud and give link.

You can try Safe Mode with Networking but it really depends on which drivers are needed for that screen. Only the basic generic drivers are loaded in Safe Mode.

    Hey,

For the logs there are 3 folders:

    - Old Logs (I took the logs out of the game folder, rebooted the computer and started the game after)

    - Only Freeze Startup

    - Freeze Startup and Normal Startup (might say something different for the Normal Startup)

I'll check the logs too and search on google to see if someone found a fix that i could possibly use

    And Thank You :)
