what did you guys mean by Dvd with steam?
Can you order through steam and receive the DVD later?

No, but if you back everything up then your good to go and also its not like u can only download it once from steam type thing.
Yeah i must admit, steam could be so much better, being able to backup server lists etc... but the concept of it i like, i find i use steam more then MSN Messenger. And tbh its way better then WON or Gamespy ever was.
Don't know about servers lists, but I know there is the Steamcloud. Which copies over your settings for each game wherever you log in. It's really nice if you play at lans or friends etc a lot. I know it does game settings and keybinds. Perhaps it might also do servers if you configure it right?

Most likely depends on the game tho. I know a lot of things are stored client side as opposed to server side just because they are chincy.

and btw. The one thing good I will say about MW2. At least they finally started storing your name and achievements server side instead of client side. That way you can't lose it. Although I did think that would almost make it less hack likely. But there are already so many hacks out to get to lvl 70 prestige 10 with everything unlocked. Kind of lame.

that's because the game stores the file on your computer so your not constantly connected to the net for your profile, then when you log off, it scans this file and makes a backup of it online. the problem really exists in the fact the file is a CFG

What is with people defending IW and this game?

I think it's crap. Not because there is nothing good about it because it does have some good things about it. But it is not a good game because the P2P system is trash and opens the doors to every cheat ever known to the FPS world all at once.

The game only feels smooth because everyone else is lagging as bad as you are and they throttle the game to meet the speed of the slowest players. Basically what you have is a solid 100ms ping game that gives the illusion of a 30ms ping game. If you adjust your config to display more bars on the bing graph and then adjust how many ms the bars represent to 20 the graph will scale from 0-200ms each bar representing 20ms so you can get an accurate ping reading using the bars. What you will see is going to make you sick really. One game the host was using a program to throttle his upload to 10kb/s so that everyone had severe lag while he himself had none. You would get shot before you could see him and the game still felt like it was running fine and dandy with no lag yeah right no lag lol. This game is nothing but lag.

IW did a great job by removing the numerical ping display in favor of a VERY inaccurate bar graph that was intentionally set to show you a pretty picture of what is not actually happening. They did a lot to make you think your not lagging when in fact this is the laggiest FPS game on the market.

Enough about lag though. The downsides to this game far outweigh any positives and that is the problem. That is what makes this a bad game.

I don't expect anyone without serious competitive experience in PC FPS games to understand why this game is a complete disaster but it is that much I can assure you of. I would not recommend you buy this for the PC.

Now if you want to talk about the 360 version then sure it is a great game probably one of the best this year. But the game was designed to run on the 360 and ported to all the other platforms I expect it to run the way it was intended on a 360 and if you wanted to buy the game for 360 I would say go for it. The match making and ping match what you would expect on a 360 where as they do not on the PC version.

The lack of leaning is a big downer. I have noticed lag occasionally but only once was it really bad. There is a noticeable bug with the anti-lag function. I have noticed me getting killed after rounding corners and then after viewing the killcam seeing that I was in plain sight of the shooter. That needs to be refined.

Dogs? Haven't played SP extensively yet but I haven't seen/know of any dogs in MP. I know alot of people that have seen the anti-lag function. COD 4 had this issue and it took a couple of patches for them to refine it to where it worked as intended. I think that the antilag is amplified because of IWnet and would be minimized provided the dedicated server support were there. Needless I am still relatively pleased with the game.

I agree I have had my problems with PB in the past but seeing aimbots and wallhacks being used so soon after the release of MW2 doesn't instill a lot of confidence for me in VAC as a cheat deterent either but maybe over time I guess it will get better
