    Kyodai Mahjongg

I'm having a new problem with this game that I can't pinpoint the cause of. I have used the same download numerous times to install it on XP, W7 betas, RC and RTM without problems until now. The game runs properly with one exception...the sound effects vanish after making a few moves on the board. If they never sounded at all, I would understand better, but this behavior seems to make it apparent that the installation is not corrupt, nor that the sound card setting are the problem. If I close the game and restart it, the sound effects return, but only for a few more moves. This is not due to the configuration of the game, because it does have the sound effects enabled, and the music portion of sound continues as always.

I have posted a question on that game's forum, but there is no telling how long before someone responds...if ever. I don't imagine that many, if anyone here is familiar with the game, but I'm still hoping that someone might have a suggestion as to the cause of the problem?

This is what I found onthe website.
    Windows compatibility - Kyodai Mahjongg
was created and tested on a lot of different configurations, using Windows 95, 98, Me, 2000 and XP. We didn't experience any problem, and when we did, the bugs were fixed quickly. I believe Kyodai Mahjongg to be safe to use. If you ever have problems with it (lock-ups, ...), it is probably due to your own configuration : outdated drivers, installation problems, missing files... From time to time, a letter pops up in my mailbox, telling me "well, I've got an Access Violation there and there", and after a while, the problem disappears after the person in question has reinstalled Windows or his drivers... (Or upgraded his video/sound cards)

Thanks, but it is not a compatibility issue, because as I said, I have not had any problems with it on previous installations on Windows 7, including the RTM on my other machine. Previously, I had a random problem with the game crashing when it initiated DirectX, but since the last DX update, there hasn't been a single crash. I can't remember if I have done that update on the other machine, because it is down right now, waiting for a processor to arrive, so I'm wondering if the DX update may have anything to do with the problem? I know that DX is primarily for rendering graphics/video, but isn't there a component of it that deals with sound also?
